Congratulations to Glenn. Possibly one of our players who goes under the radar, but is invaluable in shielding the back 4 and breaking up any threats coming through the oppositions midfield.

I've always been a big fan of Glenn. He is one of those players who form the back bone of the team.

He's become a defensive / holding midfielder over time, but it'd be nice for him to cap the milestone with a good solid 30 yarder. 13/1 anytime for Saturday, tempted just for the sake of footballing romance now

I agree he should be captain for the day. would be a nice touch i think. Also to echo the thoughts of others on here, he has been a great servant to the club.

Top of the morning to you ;-) I seem to have spent most of my time on this forum defending Glenn, and I don,t for one minute buy into the theory that he has suddenly become a better player because of Hughes. The truth is that Whelan has always been a talented and industrious midfielder, who when given options can pick out a pass and set up attacks. It was only when we played one man up front that he struggled because his only option was to pass sidewards backwards or lump it to our unsupported target man. When Etherington and Pennant were strutting their stuff Whelan was outstanding.I also feel that he is a better all round player than either Skeels or Mahoney ,much as I liked both of these players. Well done Glenn a steal at €500,000.
