That might mean something to us but the only thing that matters to a player is the here and now. Ryan will not go to Everton unless they pay what he's worth and they couldn't afford what he's worth. They've tried to sign him 3 times before and failed. Ryan hasn't agitated for a move before so why would he now? Fair point. Very fair.

I'll believe that when I see it. £12-14million would be accepted IMO. The player might want to leave, which is a factor. Coates wouldn't consider 12-14m. 20m would get them round the table. Everton haven't got that. They were skint 2 seasons ago chasing kenwright up the car park. They've spent theirs. Also I don't believe ryan would want to go. Like I said, I'll believe that when I see it. He might want to go, his stock has never been higher and there are calls for him to be picked for England. It appears that the overriding reason he isn't getting the call is because he plays for unfashionable Stoke. Everton have 3 in their ranks. He might think fuck it, I'll never get a chance here, I might as well go.

I hope to god it's not real ....BUT
His body language at FT yesterday was strange it was as if he was taken aback by the support in a way he's never done before
Or was he just saying goodbye ?

My biggest concern would be that if we do sell him, do we have time to splash 20 million on a world class midfielder? Hope so!

Surely got to be United if there genuinely is interest. Can't see us entertaining an offer from Everton. I don't think it is the club we'd be bothered about - just how much money they are prepared to spend. On the last say of the transfer window, bids start at £20 million. In which point someone like Man U are more likely. Very unlikely Everton have, or would, stump up the cash necessary. Besides which, we should be chasing them this season. Don't see them as any better than us this season.

Homzy seems to suggest the interested parties are Everton and a foreign club (God knows who?) HomzyAside from Everton, the other interest in Shawcross appears to be from abroad. But, to reiterate, I'd be staggered if he was sold tomorrow. If Man United aren't involved, I'm sure we'll see them off.....

Remember after the City game he just stood in front of the fans motionless. Anything in that? Probably not! I was gutted when he didn't feature in Valencia.. I can only see Man Utd tempting him, would he a regular starter surely MH will do everything possible to keep him.

Initially i don't think we'd be overly disastrous in that department and we could get through till January but that depends on Huth's fitness or alternatively Cameron's ability as a CB at this level. The long term effects don't look great though as Huth is looking more and more injury prone and Cameron isn't a long term option. Can't we sell our chubby Honduran friend instead?

I've just come on the site and am shattered by this news.
I wish the guy well but he can do better than Everton.
If he goes it will be the biggest loss since Greenhoff and that destroyed a great side.

Twitter is a load of crap I wouldn't believe a word of it lads.
I like shawcross he's a decent player but can't see us going for another defender tbh Jagielkas confidence is shot at the moment but I think Martinez will play stones instead doubt he will kneejerk and bring someone in.
For the guy saying we have no chance of champions league, I would say it's very small but don't let 3 games in fool you (Swansea will be nowhere near top come 10-15 games times), we drew all our 3 first games last season against much poorer opposition yet still finished 5th, we have scored 7 goals in 3 games against a stubborn Leicester side away, Arsenal and the Champion's elect Chelsea were we hit the crossbar and post twice and had one goal ruled offside. If we sort our defence out and attack as well as we did yesterday with the added players of barkley, atsu and pienaar who were all missing alongside a fully fit lukaku and eto'o and keep scoring 3 goals+ a game I massively fancy our chances with Utd,liverpool and possibly arsenal looking weaker this season.
on Shawcross I respect Stoke alot as a proper football club I always say when I come on here so would never play the "my clubs bigger than yours" crap but the gulf between the top 7 and the rest is massive and will only get bigger with both Southampton and Newcastle weaker this season, I would be surprised if shawcross seen it as a sideways move but like I say I wouldn't come on here and give it the big'un!
