At 11.01pm tomorrow can we just give him a deal for life, with a £100m buyout clause?

Sell our captain on deadline day with an injured Huth and a shaky defence up until yesterday? Yeah, I'm sure that's true.

I hope to god it's not real ....BUT His body language at FT yesterday was strange it was as if he was taken aback by the support in a way he's never done before Or was he just saying goodbye ? He was trying to spot his family/friends in the crowd, something I've seen him do regularly. Unless its Manure I don't see him going anywhere!

I don't think it is the club we'd be bothered about - just how much money they are prepared to spend. On the last say of the transfer window, bids start at £20 million. In which point someone like Man U are more likely. Very unlikely Everton have, or would, stump up the cash necessary. Besides which, we should be chasing them this season. Don't see them as any better than us this season. Think Manure have got first refusal on Shawcross I seem to remember. I may be wrong but I think he has signed a new contract since then? So the first refusal would not count anymore

A move to a Juventus/Napoli type would be a great move for him. Opportunity for him to play champions league football every season while winning countless domestic trophies. It would also almost certainly guarantee him a place in Hodgson's starting xi.

The thing is that we don't need to sell and unless ludicrous money came in, he will not be going anywhere.

But that sort of deal would be written into the 1st Contract he signed I imagine, so once a new contract is signed that deal would no longer count, that' what I'd have thought.

I never would have thought that you'd be the kind of fella to read too much into that wezza. That sort of thing has happened so many times before whether it be Fuller, Lawrence, Abdy Faye, Sorensen or indeed Shawcross a fair few times and to my recollection nothing ever comes of it. Quote me unhappy if Ryan leaves tomorrow but i find it highly unlikely.

Couldn't you say that of Celtic? Slight gulf in class between Juventus and Celtic don't you think? There is a gulf in class between Vale and Celtic Forster got in the England squad winning oddles of meaningless medals at Celtic. Perhaps Ryan would only have to dust off the Shawcross tartan after all.

I'm not 100% sure mate, I though the clause was in Ryans contract, if it was with Man U, would it not be a verbal deal? Either way if they are in for him anyway, the agreement wouldn't be needed anyway, it just meant that they had the right to match any offer that we had accepted.

Twitter is a load of crap I wouldn't believe a word of it lads. I like shawcross he's a decent player but can't see us going for another defender tbh Jagielkas confidence is shot at the moment but I think Martinez will play stones instead doubt he will kneejerk and bring someone in. For the guy saying we have no chance of champions league, I would say it's very small but don't let 3 games in fool you (Swansea will be nowhere near top come 10-15 games times), we drew all our 3 first games last season against much poorer opposition yet still finished 5th, we have scored 7 goals in 3 games against a stubborn Leicester side away, Arsenal and the Champion's elect Chelsea were we hit the crossbar and post twice and had one goal ruled offside. If we sort our defence out and attack as well as we did yesterday with the added players of barkley, atsu and pienaar who were all missing alongside a fully fit lukaku and eto'o and keep scoring 3 goals+ a game I massively fancy our chances with Utd,liverpool and possibly arsenal looking weaker this season. on Shawcross I respect Stoke alot as a proper football club I always say when I come on here so would never play the "my clubs bigger than yours" crap but the gulf between the top 7 and the rest is massive and will only get bigger with both Southampton and Newcastle weaker this season, I would be surprised if shawcross seen it as a sideways move but like I say I wouldn't come on here and give it the big'un! I'm not blinded by 3 games. I like Everton, wanted you to get into the Champions League last season and will do again if you're close to doing it, but you won't. Everton are a miles bigger club than Stoke but financially, if our owner wants to, we could outspend Everton easily. Big though the gap may be from 8th to 7th, and its huge, we still have as much chance of winning something as you. When was your last Cup Final appearance for example? Shawcross can do better than Everton and unless you're valuing him properly, assuming this latest interest is true (as I say you've tried and failed to get him 3 times before), you won't be signing him.

The Shit having 1st refusal does not make any difference as far as we are concerned. If we accepted a bid from someone for Ryan all we have to do is tell the Shit how much and if they want him they sign him for that price. If they don't we sell him to whoever we agreed the fee with. The Shit can't stop us from selling him if we want to.

I've heard Juve mentioned a.bit tonight...
Chuck in Chiellini as Shawcross replacement and Vidal to make up the money and we might be close to a deal ;-)
I would hate for Shawcross to go! I'd still be gutted if he went for 25mil

Well, if he's going, then ManU apparently have first refusal on his signature. At £8m I am pretty sure they would take him. If rumours of the sell- on clause are true, ManU get 25% of any fee we get for him. That would leave us losing Captain Fucking Fantastic for £6m nett.
Going to bed now confident that Shawcross will still be Stoke's captain when I wake up

You were saying it was bullshit and calling for the shit bin 20 mins ago. Lol Haha. The £8m bit clearly is. I would have semi-believed it if there was a '1' in front. But if Homzy has heard two are seriously after him, it's a big cause for concern. One from abroad though. Really couldn't see him moving abroad. Really can't see him moving anywhere, ever bar Man Yoo tbh.

Perhaps Ryan would only have to dust off the Shawcross tartan after all. Who knows. Demba Ba is a top quality striker capable of playing for Europe's finest. He chose to play for a hapless Besiktas side who won't be playing in the champions league. Money changes everything.

Serious football clubs do not sell their captain and talisman on deadline day whatever the circumstances and since Coates bought the club back we have been a serious football club. Wont happen.

Really couldn't see him moving abroad. Really can't see him moving anywhere, ever bar Man Yoo tbh. Yeah. Can't see him really throwing the dummy out of the pram for Everton? Maybe Man United, yeah. But, even then, seems too much of a pro. And he'd have to be realistic on deadline day. You can only sell for a deadline day premium and if you get a decent replacement lined up. It just seems wholly unlikely Everton would offer a sum that we felt compelled to accept, even if we felt sympathy for Shawcross pushing his career on. I really think the figure would need to be near £20m and I can't see them getting near that. They aren't a moneybags operation, are they? If Man United aren't involved, I'm pretty sure everything will pass off peacefully with him here at 23.01!
