I've been waiting to see crouch and diouf start together. May turn out to be a good combo.

Its an ok team but no pace, Im shocked to see Wilson starting. No pace? Moses? Diouf? Exactly! Moses was like shit of a shovel on Wed night.

Wilson starts?
Gonna change my predicted 6-0 loss to a 8-0 loss.
Bojan not starting is a strange one, thought the lad would thrive against this sorta opponent.

I wii never ever understand the inference that if Jon Walters starts we are taking some sort of backward step. The guys does a job and he scores some goals, but hey lets have have a few probably very pointless (against a team like Man City) tricks instead !! Thats progress.

No problem at all with Arnie being dropped. But surely Wingie offers more on the wing than Diouf, despite his quiet game in midweek? That's the confusing one. If he wants to give Walters a run-out in this specific game, fair enough, although I genunely thought he'd started his last game for us. Chance for Walters to prove himself. Yep, he hasn't had too many over the years so I hope he takes this rare opportunity...

Its an ok team but no pace, Im shocked to see Wilson starting. Surely Moses and Diouf are rapid. Little elsewhere, true. But those 2 can't half shift and they're potentially in the key counter-attack positions. It depends where Diouf plays for me mate. If on its on the right its not so bad.

Hi, Don't often post on here but I read nearly every other day. I can't help but feel that this is a very, very mis-matched lineup against what is going to be an undoubtedly tough fixture. I've noticed the general consensus is that Bojan doesn't have the strength for the PL just yet, but I think he could ask a few questions of their back line on this occasion? Sorry to sound stupid but I can't see the logic over today's selection? Can anyone confirm the subs bench, too? Cheers There was talk he'd picked up a slight knock in the week. So he may not be 100%. I agree, I want to see him played as a striker and I think his ability to find space and move past players is probably more likely to produce a goal can competing with City's line physically. But hey-ho, there's a reason Mark Hughes is the manager and we're not!

Have you closed your mind to the possibility of it being 442 Grapey? We'll see, Rob. The official tweet is normally pretty accurate though, and the semicolons are normally placed with care We'll see at 15.01 though! Looks like 442 to me too. Agreed. Happy with Walters and Crouch up top. I'd have gone for Odemwingie and Moses out wide though.

My worry about a 4-4-1-1 today is that the Mama position is a key to our defence and I can't see Crouchy putting in the necessary shift.

2 players out of 10. Its ok to a certain extent because Crouchie holds the ball well. Two attacking players out of the front four. Full backs aren't slow either. Hardly none at all.

Chance for Walters to prove himself. Yep, he hasn't had too many over the years so I hope he takes this rare opportunity... Never had this sort of competition before. In the past he was guaranteed a start. If he doesn't deliver today then he could be out of the team for some time.

Indeed, coupled with the correct level of service from N'zonzi, no reason why he can't pierce the central defenders. As another poster said, he should thrive against this calibre of opponent, even if we lose, just to see what he can do! Let's see.

Are many of the posters on here under 15. They show little understanding of the game if they are mature. Man City are a team who are going to have a high percentage of possession today. What an earth would you want to be selecting Adam or Arnautovic? Are these players who can harry and chase back? This is a game tailor made for Walters. He will run his knackers off, guaranteed. Moses is a player who has it within his tricks to catch Man City on the break. Crouch will be by himself up front because he can hold the ball and win the long pass but Diouf and Moses will be very quick to join in. How any idiot can criticize Hughes is appalling? Get real!

Well done to all of you slagging the starting eleven off before a ball has been kicked, seriously, well done. Happens every week, won't change. Happy with the XI but admittedly the thought of 442 with Walters on the wing isn't as exciting as a 4231 where he's central.

I've not seen any slagging at all. I think the reaction to the team news is mostly disappointment but nothing to suggest people are going to support the team any less. Change your pissy knickers.

The general rule of the oatcake: the more people are happy with the team, the worse the performance.
Should do well today then.

I think 442 long balls up to Crouch to flick on to Diouf on the counter That's my take on it. Diouf has to be in the centre playing just behind Crouch.

that front four won't work, we need the extra midfielder in there, someone who will win possession sometimes, so that we can make it a little more difficult for them to play through us. we could get a good seeing to in this game. hope I'm wrong.
On the other hand we may just be throwing caution to the wind and trying to score a few goals!

Jon F'ing Walters.....why?
Hughes obviously hasn't got the first idea what his best side is, despair at Walters even on the bench is quite. Progression, my arse.
