Looks like a pragmatic/backs to the wall defensive draw attempt that team...

Are we playing 442 to match them up given Charlie isn't playing?

Nice to see players getting a chance after a good performance in mid week.

I'm beginning to regret spending £45 on this. Doom merchant before the whistle has even gone for kick off. Don't forget to take your dry panties.

Not too surprising, apart from Adam not being on. Seems like Hughes wants solidity more than anything with Adam to come on later.

Will see how this pans out. I think the one hope for Diouf is playing as part of a front two or a 4-4-1-1. Really hope he's not on the wing. If he is it's a clear signal to Mad Marko that he wasn't fucking impressed by his last display, which needed signalling. Marko will have wanted to play in front of Man City.

Keep the faith - we have a strong bench - interesting to see that Huth has made it too.
I share the concerns re Bardsley, as should he have to come off then quite a bit of rearranging in defence?

Walters wide right according to Stokes assistant manager on Radio Stoke. Crouch & Diouf up front, with Moses on the left.

Arnie doesn't warrant a place based on the first 2 games. Fair play to Hughes, if it sends a message to him then job done.

Perfectly sane starting eleven with the option for the addition of 'fiddley bits' from the bench. Man City are not the team to allow the eccentricities of Charlie and Arnie to go unpunished. Bojan simply doesnt look strong enough for 90 mins against that lot yet.

Poor team on the face of it! Poor team? Yea, I hope I wrong but it just looks weak, i'm glad Arnie has been dropped, might give him a kick up the arse, Didn't want Whelan to play, he has been atrocious so far, walters...... hmmmm...... Wilson is an accident waiting to happen. I just hope they come out and have a go!

Huth isn't ready and Arnie has been bloody awful so far, you play to keep your place, he hasn't done enough. And Walters was simply magnificent in the week, albeit against 4th Division opponents. We are playing the most physical team in the Prem today and we have to play men who are prepared to go toe to toe with some big units.

Hi,
Don't often post on here but I read nearly every other day.
I can't help but feel that this is a very, very mis-matched lineup against what is going to be an undoubtedly tough fixture.
I've noticed the general consensus is that Bojan doesn't have the strength for the PL just yet, but I think he could ask a few questions of their back line on this occasion?
Sorry to sound stupid but I can't see the logic over today's selection?
Can anyone confirm the subs bench, too?
Cheers

Walters and Crouch. Superb decision. Today won't be for the faint hearted. Horses for courses. (no donkey jokes, please).[/quote Well done March. Exactly what Hughes has just said on Radio stoke :-)

No problem at all with Arnie being dropped.
But surely Wingie offers more on the wing than Diouf, despite his quiet game in midweek? That's the confusing one.
If he wants to give Walters a run-out in this specific game, fair enough, although I genunely thought he'd started his last game for us.

I hope Diouf plays just off Crouch. I think Walters did enough on Wednesday to warrant his start today... Lets see what happens mate I assume Huth is not fit for a full 90 yet...

Its an ok team but no pace, Im shocked to see Wilson starting. Surely Moses and Diouf are rapid. Little elsewhere, true. But those 2 can't half shift and they're potentially in the key counter-attack positions.
