It seems they have identified the beheader quaintly known as 'Jihadi John'. Abdel-Majed Abdel Bary, 23 who left his family's £1 million home in Maida Vale, West London last year and recently tweeted a picture of himself holding up a severed head. Yvette Cooper, the shadow home secretary, says they should be forced to take part in compulsory 'de-radicalisation programs' on their return. That'll show'em. Actually it won't but it does show how utterly fucked we are here. It's difficult to know what or how to deal with it to be fair. These radicalised people clearly do not respect or heed their elders.

It really isnt difficult. If still fighting, capture them or kill them, which is what the SAS are there for. If they make it back, life in prison.

What a load of bull. If this and asbos for terrorists is the answer then we're well and truely fucked. It's time to stop pussy footing around and take some firm action. To start with the government should be passing legislation revoking the passports of those who are fighting for ISIS. Next sort out our pourous borders(why it takes me an hour to get through passport control when they're waving any Tom, Dick or Abdul through at other times is a mystery). Finally sort out the rabble rousers here, starting with serious jail time for those who are inciting racial hatred. I'm not holding my breath.

Ask your dad he should know. with all due respect mate shelton was closed by a labour government , the pottery industry has been in decline since the asian factories started to flood the market Yes you're right Harry...the main processing plant was closed in 1978..but other parts did still remain open. The extremely high interest rates of the early 1980s (deliberately high) choked off the pottery industry & exported thousands of jobs abroad. The mining industry was shut down for political reasons. Indirectly via the multiplier another 10,000 jobs went. This City was decimated in the 1980s. Retail parks replaced industry. Car parks replaced pot banks. The underlying causes of this industrial collapse weren't created by the Conservative Party..but they were most definitely speeded up. Thatchers greatest mistake was to ignore the social consequences of this industrial devastation.

Trouble is the west has befriended terrorists in the middle east when it suits and turned against them when it doesn't. The only option left seems to me to be a programme of education to avoid radicalisation.

Yes Harry. .I would agree with that. My.point is that this process was speeded up quite a bit in the 1980s and the social consequences were ignored. Whole communities went to the wall. I think some form of national service should have been put in place to refocus peoples minds.
Not a party political point.

It was less than a year ago that Cameron and Obama wanted to support and join up with Isis and get involved in the war in Syria, and the usual clowns on here where calling for troops to be sent in and for bombing raids to be carried out
Saddam and Gaddafi should have been left in control of there countries as should Assard,

Noone cares when they get quietly knocked off by special forces or locked up for life.

They weren't allowed to rebuild their armed forces/munitions/defence and instead invested all this additional money into industry. .8% of GDP from 1945 onwards is a lot of money. We invested in a nuclear programme and defence spending massively disproportionate to our standing in the world which meant..in effect.. keeping industry antiquated. Productivity levels soared in Germany & we got left behind. The unions didn't help matters. Politicians went for short term solutions. In Germany it was the opposite. As you say. .Germany is a great example of how to get social & economic policy right.

That report is bollocks IMO, they only have decided to turn against the community/society, they could do something positive where they live, make it a better place etc. And they are saying Jihad John comes from a £1million house in Maida Vale, hardly a tough upbringing for him !

When he comes to Dover we should shake his hand and apologise. Well the article says that the video may have been staged , it seems that there is little doubt that the murder was carried out , in the appalling manner that was shown on the film ....it still seems likely that these British subjects will have been the perpetrators of this evil act ....so nothing has really changed has it ?
