My God there's some shite on this thread. There's sweeping statements and generalisations which are quite ridiculous. To suggest you are less of a fan if you don't sing or shout is just plain stupid. It just gets worse and worse, apparently it's The South Stands fault, whatever next? The Salavation Army band? I've read some crap on here but as a plethora of complete bollocks this is head and shoulders above the rest. ask yourself this,if you were a player on the pitch, which sort of fan would you prefer to be in the stadium, the sort that gives the team vocal support or an happy clapper ?

Ray, ask yourself this, if you'd just forked out a grand on ST's, given the personnel we have have recently acquired and those we've seen come on in bounds, what would you prefer? A team that dug deep to secure a home result or a virtual game of subbuteo that turned out to be a real game that cost the punters a good few quid?
And its 'A happy clapper', not 'An happy clapper' FFS!

I know where you're coming from but I'm not sure I agree, last season we had our best to date in recent times and the atmosphere was still pretty poor most of the time, expectation is killing it, while there's nothing wrong with expecting a little more these days, the crowd shouldn't just sit back and wait for it to happen then make a noise, it should start way before. some people on ere were actually talking about a possible top 6 finish, even more were convinced we would qualify for europe, all this on the back of us signing bojan, who is unproven in the prem, diouf ,who failed last time in the prem, and sidwell and bardsley who are average prem players.i believe that the "stokies" with the highest expectations this season are the most blinkered amongst us or the least clued up when it comes to football.Ooooohhhh hark at her....

The team although disjointed against Villa were complacent like the crowd. Like the boss has said, we have to wake up and quick. Come on Stoke, lets have Hull.

Never really liked the term Bear pit. More liked Fortress Britannia because we are Stoke loud and proud

The point about songs is a valid one though.
Oh When The Reds was loud Delilah is only any good used sparingly There were a couple of attempts at Mark Hughes' Barmy Army A couple of Goarn Stoke
What else is there?
Towards the end of last season - the Odemwingie song(s) were good for sustaining an atmosphere - he sadly wasn't playing.
It has been done to death on this message board - but we need more player songs - simple and repetitive songs that can spread around The Brit quickly.
See Bojan for example - a simple and easy to spread song would be Ole, Ole, Ole, Ole, Bojan, Bojan.
The longer, more drawn out songs are better for boozer's and away games - eventually enough people will know them for it to spread around the ground.
EG - Ri-Car-Do Full-er was easy and sung by everyone at home, the the 'Johnny Comes Marching Home' song started to pick up pace - first at away games and had been knocking about for a year or so before it spread around the Brit.
The same can be said of Huth - 'Huth There it is' took off relatively quickly, whilst the 'Agadoo' song was being learnt and spread.
We need simple songs, that repeat - allowing them to spread easily.

It's very hard to try to lift the team, when you know in your own mind that it ain't going to happen, Ray. Saturday was, I'm afraid one of those days. I could feel it in my water! I'm hoping for much better against Hull!
