Is Bent back in the frame now? yes mate, i'll be shocked if he don't start on sat, we aint got nobody else ! You could do a lot worse than darren bent mate if you play to his strengths, i'd like him at Stoke, a lot. This is what I don't understand about Lambert, you got Darren Bent a proven prolific goalscorer in your squad and you don't build the team around him to get him at his most effective. Don't get it at all,

give him regular games to get match sharp & half a chance in the area and 9 times out of ten its a goal. Top player still imo in need of regular games, confidence of the manager to be his number 1 striker and being played to his strengths

Lambert come straight in as far as I'm aware and neglected Bent because he doesn't suit the way Lambert plays football.

Bent is a great finisher, but sadly another decent player ruined by Villa, he effectively kept us up with 9 in 16 games when he arrived, he even managed 10 goals the following year in a season ruined by injury, problem is, he is an out and out goalhanger who contributes nothing outside the box and we are so poor we cant accommodate a player like that, he does not fit into Lamberts "gameplan" whatever that is meant to be ,the only reason he's starting now is because Benteke is still out !

I think a home win but I don't think it will be easy. I think a late first half goal and then one mid second half to keep it rolling.

I'm struggling with this one, don't really know what the starting 11 will be. I have a rough idea of the midfield - defense side of the team but as for the striking I don't know if Hughes will start Bojan or whether or not he will bring him on as a sub.
What do you guys think the starting 11 will be and the key players?

It's a shame when a team can't accomodate a goalscorer afterall goals win games, Ian Rush, Gary Linekar two great examples of such players. Like I say i'd like him at Stoke playing with our forwards I reckon he'd score a hatful playing with Bojan as false 9 & arnautovic picking balls out for him

Surely Bojan has to start. The guy must be so confident at the moment why risk taking that away from him by dropping him for the first game of the season? Mind that's all pretty irrelevant anyway given he's the best player we've got by a country mile.

Mind that's all pretty irrelevant anyway given he's the best player we've got by a country mile. Only thing I am worried about is him taking a knock during the first game, that would be horrid although he's said in the webchat he's ready for the physical side of the Premier League.

My guess is this will be Hughes' team on Sat...
GK: Begovic RB: Bardsley CB: Shawcross CB: Wilson LB: Pieters CM: Whelan CM: Nzonzi RM: Bojan CM: Ireland LM: Arnautovic ST: Diouf
For my money there are three positions where personnel may be different from that.
CB : Wilson or Huth LB: Pieters or Muniesa RM: Bojan or Odemwingie
Now, written down that may look daft, but they're the only 3 places where i wouldn't be surprised if MH started one player over the other. Every other position seems pretty nailed on for this one.

This is the millionth version of this thread -----------------Diouf---------------- ---------Arnie-Ireland-Bojan-------- -----------N'zonzi-Whelan----------- Pieters-Shawcross-Wilson-Bardsley ----------------Begovic--------------- What a strange way of putting it. Diouf in goal with 3 at the back and Begovic up front, well that'll take 'em by surprise

The Sentinal are predicting a line up that I wouldn't go with -
GK - Begovic
RB - Bardsley CB - Shawcross CB - Huth LB - Muniesa
LCM - Whelan CM - N'Zonzi RCM - Ireland
RW - Odemwingie ST - Diouf LW - Arnautovic
I admit that is a strong side but I personally wouldn't go with that.

All this stuff about Bojan playing on the right?
Every time he's scored for us he's been playing in the centre, he's said he far prefers to be central and he didn't like playing wide at Ajax.
Against Betis when Bojan and Diouf were swapping postions, Bojan didn't once cover Bardsley, not once and he kept drifting into the centre, yet Diouf showed that he's more than happy to cover his full back and has got the discipline to hold his position.
Are we being guilty of trying to shoe horn Bojan into the team somewhere, rather than playing him in his best position?
What happens if we sign Yarmolenko, then it has to become a choice between Diouf and Bojan to play in the centre, doesn't it?

You don't have the amount of premier league goals he does and then just turn shit, he has been used incorrectly.
