Lets look at the facts.
Hughes likes inverted wingers. Shaqiri can play both but is often more effective on the right. Ditto Yarmolenko.
As good as both players are we surely need a right footed lefty to give competition to Arnie, hence our 9 month chase of Konoplyanka?

Factually correct Paul (albeit he can play on the left I think) but missing the point.
There's been a thread hijack and a right load of old cod's wallop it was too. How can I be missing the point if my post was designed to encourage discussion about, erm ... Yarmolenko? Unreserved apologies Paul; now I've had some kip, (lacking last night obvs), I can see I was indeed a poor version of Martin Atkinson, waving a misplaced yellow at the innocent party and hereby rescind it accordingly.
For some reason I thought you were a protagonist in 'net-spend / points drought' - gate.
I'll visit Specsavers, beat myself with a stick and drop myself for the next set of arguments fixtures before the panel do it for me.
p.s. Whichever wing he plays, he is bloody good and we should buy him.

Olic is the invented winger and would keep us well in the transfer black don't rule it out .

Actually at this stage he would make my £5 million net bang on and then a big profit on the year when we sell Shaq next summer .
Don't rule it out

I hear Barca are after him, so all we have to do is wait untill he signs for Barca, then sign him from them next season on the cheap.

Seems pretty conclusive? 'Yarmo' s done a 'Kono' and played us all along?! You never know what the situation is really especially with translated foreign media. He COULD be reiterating to the Kiev president, "you'll lose me for nothing next summer if you don't sell me in the next five days".

He COULD be reiterating to the Kiev president, "you'll lose me for nothing next summer if you don't sell me in the next five days". I thought it said he'd signed another contract? No he said (according to the translation) "I have another year of contract and I will faithfully fulfill it". That simply means he is seeing out the year he had left on his contract. He actually signed a extension LAST summer taking him up to 2016 (thinking it had a release clause, which apparently it didn't) and he doesn't appear to have signed another.

Just letting you all know.. There's this Ukrainian lad that seems to be pretty good, nobody seems to be talking about him so I'm just going to say, his name is Andriy Yarmolenko and he is a left winger for Dynamo Kiev and he could be rather good for us. Like I said nobody seems to be talking about him so I thought that I would bring up the topic. Right winger. Haha I knew that! I can't believe I made that mistake. I blame the fact that it was late and I was tired

Eh? Well that ("I'm staying") goes against his "I won't do the dirty on Igor / Kiev and go for free next Summer, so the club get nothing".
Think Forny has the right of it.
Poker time !
Who blinks first.
And time to up our stake.

he sounds pretty bummed out that he is moving on, but of course he has to say he will complete his contract.
I think he will be gone on deadline day to someone

Seems pretty conclusive? 'Yarmo' s done a 'Kono' and played us all along?! I wouldn't be too sure that Yarmo was ever in control of events enough to 'play us along'. Personally, I reckon that Igor was the one who wanted to have all potential buyers dancing to his tune and, in view of the non-release clause, Yarmo had few, if any, options. As Lakeland said, there COULD be almost any interpretation of statements from Kiev.

I think "I have another year of contract and I will faithfully fulfill it" means, if I have to stay I'm going to be polite to my Ukrainian employer because I know who butters my bread.

Time to put this one to bed, me thinks. It was surely only ever going to be one of Shaq and Yarmo, wasn't it? Let's just be happy we got at least one of them and move on.

I agree with this but I think Traore was more likely than 'Yarmo'. Pity we didn't get Traore as 'Shaq' can cover left wing. I think we now know why so many of our top five clubs steer clear of Ukrainian 'freebies'. They're as much a freebie as a Harrods sale!
