What is the point of refs using yellow cards in these matches? Tbf the ref kept them in his pocket for challenges that normally deserve one but Arnie had three in the space of 5mins. The latter two could well have been straight reds in the Prem. A bit silly really.

Its all about fitness at this point, results although nice to get are not important.

They are much further into their pre-season than us, stoke site says their league kicks off next week and they've had 6 friendlies Don't let that stop you though, hughes out, pulis in, make sidibe close his cake shop down and get riccy fuller back

My guess is to play instead of Charlie or Ireland, mate. If it's a 4231 Bojan will be the central of the advanced three. If you had to guess at the moment, Jamo, that'd have to be the favourite. It'll be interesting to see what the Ireland-Adam-Bojan pecking order is at Christmas. I'd probably still guess that Ireland is favoured. And I wouldn't be staggered if Adam was moved on in the next month or January when you see which way the wind's blowing. Today showed Ireland and Bojan are too lightweight together in the centre of the park - it is one or the other. Right now it will be Ireland and Bojan may be worth looking at on the right in Wingy's absence, and surely it must be better giving him some minutes than Shots. I mentioned elsewhere on here that, if Bojan is seen as an Ireland alternative, then Adam's days are surely numbered. Sid has come in as well to limit his chances of playing in the deeper central two.

Before anyone else does Neanderthal idiot! I hope you don't call yourself a STOKE supporter! What do our new players think if they ever read our forums when we have imbecillic comments such as this. STOKE CITY are over in Germany to build a basic level of fitness without getting injured. I'm always disappointed when my side loses but only a clown would throw his toys out of the pram at such a time. What our players want at this moment is your complete support without criticism.

Hoping the game may turn up on YouTube in full. Either way neither team we sent out is likely to be our normal starting XI. It was a work out and a training exercise, I would like to see our best starting side on Tuesday as we need to start to gell

We have a surplus of players for most positions so I can see a number having to be rotated or settling for a place on the bench. That includes the mini Messi fellow. It's ok building a team round one player if that player is exceptional and performing. If not we can't afford to have passengers in the Prem

Just got in but my opinion from before and on reading this is:
Tommy is nowadays a very worrying back up keeper
wilko is very limited and only still here because the chairman insists we have a local on the books.
Both he and Shotton I wouldn't send down the vale.
whelan for whatever is said about how he finished the season will for me always be a limited midfielder who walks and runs like a laboured chris waddle and is as quick chasing an opposition midfielder as jon parkin.

Some of the comments on here make me chuckle. Talk about jumping to conclusions.
If there is one thing that all Stokies should have learnt from the past it is that pre season results are not a great pointer to the way in which the season will pan out in the end.

Sidwell's arrival pretty much cutting his chances of starting in the 4- 2-3-1 off at the knees. Not starting a game since March 1st. Bojan getting a 4-yr deal, saying he prefers to play centrally and partially blaming his poor last 3-4 yrs on not consistently doing that - and starting centrally today. Looking at another winger (at least one!) which again would force Bojan into being primarily, if not exclusively, a central option. He must be in out top 6 earners? A lot for a bench option. It all seems to be combining to close the door on Adam. Don't know wnat kind of club would have him though?

I can't see Adam being here after September 1st. Hughes loves Ireland and he's bought Bojan for that role. Sidwell he knows well and Nzonzi plus Whelan will fight it out to play alongside him.

If that 'advanced midfielder/support striker' position is Bojan's position then fine but it isn't is it?

It is though and he's said it himself that he plays centrally, either as the main striker or behind.

I give up - I will wait until next Tuesday by which time, the pony express arrives in Stoke on Trent with a hand written match report (Quil and ink mind you) - in a leather mailbag
delivered by a cowboy with fucking arrows sticking out of his hat
(but dont let that stop you lads discuss the finer points of Charlie Adams role in the squad)
