Good thread for the holiday season. Born in Tunstall, schooled at Stanfields Tech (best school ever and I have seen a lot as an ex teacher), left Stoke in late 70s for job near Warrington and still there. Have family and friends in Stoke and of course my football IS Stoke. I am an interpreter for the Pottery slang and an official teacher of the language to my family, friends and anyone lucky enough to be drinking with me. I am also the purveyor of fine foods and have often entertained friends to the bacon (+ fat) cheese and tomatoes on one big plate and the oatcakes (a sort of potteries tribal communal meal) with a fine red wine for dinner parties, or freshly squeezed orange juice for breakfasts, or light beer for lunching. I shit you not, the right drink is very important. I learned to drive in Stoke and so driving in London, Paris or Rome is a piece of piss. What you said Lardy was very touching. Agreed Pedro. Thatcher and other politicians tore the shit out of our mines, pottery and steel with their thoughtful policies and yet we remain a caring, smart, thoughtful, loyal and cheery bunch who know they have nothing to prove. We are potters. When we returned to the premiership under the guidance of TP and the support of PC, heaven was definitely centred at the Brittania (what a great ground to be in on match day!!!!!). And we are getting better. I am Stokie.
