So you've never actually lived in stoke then? That's a good point hb88. There's many, including me, who hail from Newcastle and other surrounding areas but never actually lived in Stoke on Trent. Are we still true Stokies? I think I am and when asked where I'm from always say Stoke and not Newcastle Under Lyme. Anybody else have this predicament? Yes. I was born in the Fanny Deakin (!!) Maternity Hospital in Chesterton and lived my early life in Normacot, Boothen, Shelton and then Ipstones in the country near Leek. My dad liked rugby union more than football so my dear old grandad took me to my first ever game in 1958 when I was seven and I've been hooked ever since. As others have said, it's in the blood, in the genes and the fact that you were born over some arbitrary political boundary makes no difference. I live in East Yorkshire now and used to work at Leeds University. Many times when I was working away people would assume I was a Leeds supporter and I took enormous pride in putting them right. Both my daughters are stokies and I've even infected my mate down the road so we both have season tickets. So although you're technically right, Lawrie, I think it's where your emotions lie. Once a stokie, always a stokie and the incidental (and accidental) place of your birth doesn't matter at all. That's what I think anyroad.

Parents moved to Newcastle when I was 2 and brought up there going to schools in Chesterton and Wolstanton. Left the area in 1966 and always lived in other parts of England and Wales, but where ever I've been people have had no doubt of who I support. (Wife thinks I'm mental.) Mother from Basford, so I guess I'm a half-breed.

Although I haven't had an ST postcode for nigh on 30 years, and my youngest was born in Cambridge, he, like me, is Stoke to the core. Born: Leek Dad: had trials for SCFC in the 1930's (and Bury - lucky escape eh?!)...never made it beyond Ball Haye Green though First game: 1964 v Manure!! We lost, of course, but that didn't matter! My daughter had the good sense to be born at North Staffs RI, but spoiled that by it being FA Cup 3rd round day (aagh!)lost 0-2 to Everton (1984 - Adrian Heath) Rosie Maternity in Cambridge is nice...but it's not S-on-T is it? Still, from the age of 8 my lad has been hooked, just as I was. The last 26 years have been spent in Leicester trying to bring culture to the deprived...with no success...so bring on next season and our 'long' away trip to the King Power

Born on Campbell Road right opposite the Victoria Ground. Its not quite in my blood but the passion was oh so close from an early age. Left home in 1961 - joined the Army, saw the world or most of it but always somehow managed to get hold of as much Potters news as I could. Stan asked to see the Stoke Supporter working in the British Embassy in Prague - and that was me. What a lovely man he was. Managed to ease one son into the mould and now he regularly travels from Durham where he lives to watch Stoke. After Premiership promotion, I lost heart with Pulisball but have now returned regularly to the fold from Lytham St Annes where I live. This seemed a nice post to make for my 800th!

Born in hanley (though lived in Wales for over a decade now), my love of oatcakes and, of course, the small fact that before TP took us back to the promised land, anyone south of Derby or north of Crewe would give me an odd look if I was wearing my Stoke shirt. That's what makes me a Stokie.

I was born in Leicestershire, my old man was in the RAF at Cottismore, when he got de mobbed in the late 60's he got a job in J Lab on the Michelin, Our first Stoke house was Eaton Park. Left stoke 5 yrs ago to work in Asia, but still refer to Stoke as home, all my family are there and of course my beloved football club. I guess being a Stokie is not necessarily in yr blood, but more in yr heart, My old man took me to my first ever Stoke game when I was 6, Carlisle I seem to recall, and we were on the old Stoke End before it had seats and a roof, mixing with the away fans. Home over the summer, but sadly will be back in Thai before the season starts.

I was also born in the Fanny Deakin, then spent the first two years of my life in Trent Vegas, mum and dad living with mums parents waiting for a council house, thankfully they got one (well a flat at first) on Bentilee where I spent the rest of my childhood until I joined the Navy at 18. I've since lived in quite a few places around the UK but I've always returned to Bentilee, still do now as my mum still lives there, and I love the place. My Dad sold tickets for the weekly draw thing Dudley Kernick introduced in the early 70s, he was also a steward and a turnstile man at various times at Stoke, he seemed to know everybody around the place when I was a kid. I sold programmes in the Boothen for a couple of seasons when I was old enough. My first game was when I was about 2 (I'm told!) my Dad wanted to make sure I saw Sir stan in the flesh even if I wouldn't remember it, I've been going back for more ever since. I'm incredibly proud of my roots and should anyone dare to criticise the area in my presence they'd better be prepared for a good row! I love it when I meet Stokies on holiday or when out and about, in Chang Mai last year I was stood outside a shop waiting for the missus when 4 lads came out and one of them saw the Stoke badge on my polo shirt, he told his mates and they treated me like a long lost brother! Would you get that with Liverpool, Arsenal, the Manchester teams or many, many others? Would you fuck! I have, this season, bought my first season ticket, never needed one before I left, we had free tickets for every home game at The Vic, and since then it hasn't been remotely practical, even now I'll only get to about a third of the games due to work. Both my lads are Stokies despite the fact they were both born in Portsmouth and in their youth we lived in Pompey when Pompey were in the Premiership and we were still shit

Born in wigan, raised in wigan, live in wigan..........but love SCFC
As a younster everybody in wigan support a top team like man u etc. I was a big rugby league fan(still am) an didnt have a football team to follow. Wigan was in 4th div and there was no atmosphere at the games. My sister moved to stoke an took me to a game v southend. We won 4-0. Was just an ok atmosphere. A couple of years later i think it was an i went and watched stoke v arsenal in cup, the game ian wright handballed it, and lets just say the atmosphere that night got me addicted to being a stokie. My mates say i support stoke because we play like a rugby team ha.

Born in Newcastle DG, raised in Trentham, lived in S-O-T for 18 years until I headed off to Uni and then have been all over. Now married to a Madrilenan with my business in Wigan and spending more tan half my time here in Madrid and less than half in Wigan. My dad still lives in Trentham. My dad, a Vale fan at heart, took me and my sis to matches when I was around 6 in the 1973 season and onwards for a few seasons. Maybe a Little too Young to have great memories but I do remember seeing John Ritchie play and Jimmy Greenhoff etc etc; I can still remember the 3-2 against Leeds and the 4-0 against Man City with the woman with the bell. I remember dad taking us to the oatcake shop near the ground before a match (at the away end of the ground in a side Street). Other random, happy memories. I was there at Carlisle when we got trounced 3-0 and were in the open away end with it lashing down with rain. My dad stood outdoor markets and I remember bouncing around his stall when we were listening to the radio (radio Stoke) and Paul Richardson scored the winner at Notts County just after Sunderland (?) had taken the lead and would have stopped us from going up. It just gets in your blood doesnt it ? I get to very few matches now due to personal circumstances but I am always on a live stream; always finding a way to get the result or updates if I cannot watch. I even had to suffer watching the FA Cup semi and the final in an Irish bar here in Madrid. At least for the semi there were 10 other Stoke fans who were over for a long weekend. My 2 sons are avid fans as well now (back in the UK, previous marriage) and they are texting me on matchday when there is action and they know I cannot watch. I hope for one last glory day before I pack up my boots so to speak, be it a top 5 finish or a Cup Final win of some sort. Although I shouldnt be greedy having seen us win a few times at old Wembley, Millenium and then at new Wembley. My blood is definitely red and White
