But on Thursday Nzonzi made clear he wishes to be sold this summer, in an email written to chief executive Tony Scholes by the player's father and agent Fidele, barely 12 months after his last attempt to force a move was rejected. Stoke dismissed his request last May and are likely to pursue the same action this season unless a rival club can meet their strict valuation
Realistically, what do we think this figure is? We do hold the cards, but with a second transfer request, does there come a point when you've got to get rid.
£10m?

Can't complain about a guy wanting to go further in his career, though in my opinion he won't play at a much better club than the one he's at now, certainly won't be a star player guaranteed football every week. Obviously has a rather inflated opinion of himself and his abilities. says something about his agent dad. Reckon he's the one stirring up trouble...

I suppose he could get an Everton/Spurs/Newcastle type club, bit of a pay rise and maybe Europa League football every other season.
I like him as a player but he doesn't seem to have even a modicum of affinity towards the club.

If Shaw is worth over 20 then Zonz, bad attitude and all, is comfortably over 10.

Everton are the best he could hope for imo, with Tottenhams ambitions and money I doubt he'd have a chance there.

I think he's easily good enough for Spurs. I think he could pretty much play for any team in the country, to be honest.
With the pressure of playing for a bigger team, I think he could raise his game and be a top player. The ability is all there

If I'd read this before the weekend I could have believed it no problem, but reading N'Zonzi's comments after the west brom game, it just doesn't add up. He seemed more emotional in his words than ever before. I always thought that there was a (not so) hidden message in most of his 'I'm happy here' statements in the past, but he really seemed to nail his colours to the mast with this one. He's either an incredible liar, or he's had an almighty turnaround in the matter of days (due to interest from a big club maybe?) My guess is, that the Sun reporter has taken a gamble, (lied through his back teeth) after failing to do the tiniest little bit of research. What the fuck do I know

I really don't think he's talented enough and I certainly don't think he has the right mental attitude. He's a small boy trapped in a mans body.

Surely he's had a little whisper in his ear, that a big club is interested?
I can't see him going through all of this again if he's not confident of moving to a bigger club.

Yep - must have had someone "blowing in his ear" of at least the calibre of an Everton/Spurs. Unless we really are 'under-paying' him and are refusing to give him a rise? from this time last year...Nzonzi’s determination to leave is understood to be over what he believes are broken promises concerning a new contract. He maintains he was given a verbal promise of a wage increase, scheduled for January, but it failed to materialise. His initial salary at Stoke was way down the club’s wage structure and he was asked to prove himself over the first half of the season with the plan to increase his wages should he perform well. Nzonzi made an impressive start to his career at Stoke, but fell away dramatically after New Year when the pay rise he believed he had earned was not awarded to him.

We all knew what we were buying when we first bought N'Zonzi off Blackburn. All the reports from Blackburn fans were the same messages as those on here now. We got him cheap of Blackburn because he had injury issues around the time of the transfer.
Class act on his day. I would stick 10 mill on his head at least. He has the potential to play in a top 4 club but he isn't there yet. Problem is. Mr N'Zonzi probably thinks he is.

I hope it isn't true but if it is then we need to get shut at whatever we can get. No room for players who don't want to play for us. Think we need to wait and see, it may just be bad journalism based on nothing.

Stoke "tight-lipped" on the story. ie - it's true (as John Percy's stories normally are, to be fair!)

Doesn't a transfer request usually follow a substantial bid from a bigger club?
As such, I think the story is bullshit. Unless of course we've turned down a bid which we're unaware of. Though I doubt something like that would have escaped media attention.

It must have taken something to make him do a u-turn like that
Spurs if Paulinho goes Chelsea Everton to replace Gareth Barry Newcastle are after a new CM, plus he's French Liverpool to replace Lucas Even Arsenal may be after him as Arteta's successor
If it's Everton then Barry may be up for grabs and I certainly wouldn't mind Barry here, or Lucas for that matter

Great shame, but if he wants to go, no point keeping an unsettled player around. Cash in and move on.

How unbelievably strange. Quite mystifying given his recent comments. I guess this is a modern day footballer who can change his mind at the drop of a hat, however given his recent comments, I was hoping he would be playing for us next year. But if he wants to go, he wants to go, no point in keeping him around (although it did seem to work after his first transfer request). I wonder what our valuation of him would be and who would be his suitors. £8m and maybe the Arseholes.

He didn't really leave any wiggle room. It was as convincing a 'I want to stay' as you could possibly find. There's either been a development over the last few days, or he's even more untrustworthy than I imagined.

Mark Hughes has had him playing the best football of his career and once again Superstar Steve wants out! Get rid I say, anything over £5 million would be a great deal. It's highly unlikely he'll ever develop any further from the player he is today, he just doesn't have the mental aptitude, he relies far too much on others on the pitch and off it. Sidwell for N'Zonzi would be great business, it wouldn't weaken the team and would generate a good few millions to strengthen the team / squad further. He's never really appreciated his time at Stoke, he's shown very little respect to our great club. Get it done, see you Steve and welcome Steve

I was nervous about the Sun article earlier in the week by Shaun Custis, as I believe he's very close to Hughes. John Percy seems to make it a slam dunk. 2 years left on his contract might make it time to sell in Stoke's eyes. If we can't realistically hope to tie him to a longer contract we're looking at a gradually reduced transfer fee as it runs down. Such a shame if true though, even N'Zonzi was playing with a smile by the end of the season.

Though in all seriousness, there's no evidence to back up this story. With the exception of a fictional email that hasn't been sent yet.
