We have become a counter attacking side who are creating quite a few chances; would we be better off looking for a "poacher" type of striker rather than a target man?
The recent Spurs,West Brom and Newcastle games were ones where we could have won easily with a better finisher. I think there are a few about that would be perfect for our style of play who wouldn't cost fortunes.

I don't think poachers can lead the line on their own.
Plus we won't always be able to approach games as a counter attacking style.
We need a striker with some pace and good movement who's also good in the air and has some physical presence.

We need a poacher who can also lead the line. A bigger, more powerful version of Wingie. A Bony or a Lukaku type - or Benteke in his first season at Villa. All three are decent finishers, very mobile and very powerful. If our scouts can unearth that sort of player at a reasonable price in Europe then we are sorted - if not we'll have to pay a big price for an already proven player.

We need someone of the same ilk as lukaku, bony and benteke (circa 2012/2013) but sadly they are few and far between and cost a fortune (except for benteke) you just have to "drop on" as they say but i have faith that we will find someone... Eventually.

Are we in negotiations with him or, given that he is a free agent, are we just one of a queue of clubs in for him?

Victor Anichebe type if he could score goals. And that's the point scoring goals depends on how the team you're in play and the chances they create. He looked strong quick and powerful although he was up against little Muni! Having said that West Brazil paid 6 million and let Long go for 7?

Bafetimbi Gomis is on a bosman Yes, decent player who could do a job for us. He's a couple of years older than ideal, but at 28 he should still have a good few years left. Would N'Zonzi put in a good word, do you think?

Bony would do for me.

It could be possible we are in discussions with bosmans right now like Muniesa was

Trouble is that Bony was probably just within the realm of the possible for us when Swansea bought him. Now with a good season under his belt he would be way out of our price range.

The modern game doesn't suit "poachers" any longer.
Gary Linekar would struggle get in most teams, just scoring goals is no longer enough.

Did Bony cost £12m or £14m? Either way, does anyone think we'd spend that on a striker this Summer, because I don't.

I don't think poachers can lead the line on their own. Plus we won't always be able to approach games as a counter attacking style. We need a striker with some pace and good movement who's also good in the air and has some physical presence. So basically a younger version of Didier Drogba? Yeah, okay...

Our system is suited to a pacy striker with a goalscoring instinct, who is strong enough to hold the ball up when played into feet.
Is Odemwingie our ready-made solution for next season?

I've said it before and i'll say it again, I think Michy Batshuayi would be immense for us. We would sell him after a season or two for twice what we bought him for.

Big men and speed are quite Arnie is strong, fast and skilled enough to lead the line, wingers are easier to find.

Demba Ba would be perfect for the role as the single forward man

Any chance of a translation? Bloody mobile! Hope it reads better now but don't hold your breath. I agree Arnie is fast enough, strong enough and skilled enough to lead the line but I don't think he is enough of a natural goal scorer to do it properly. A natural goal scorer having the chances Arnie had this season would have scored two or three times as many goals. That takes nothing away from the fact that he is a superb player but I think he will always create more for others than he scores himself.
