Been fortunate enough to see Ronaldo (when we were beat 5-0 at OT), Kaka in a Brazil v Argentina friendly in 2005 and Messi for Barcelona v Osasuna in march this year. 3 of the 4 best players since 2000 (never saw Zidane) and I think Ronaldo just scraps it from Messi. Kaka ran penalty box to box to score too.
For Stoke, I think the fella who played in goal v Leicester in 2008 (Steve banks?) stands out for me

I know we were at a lower level ourselves but when the Geordies came to the Vic in 94 (?) David Ginola and Peter Beardsley ripped us a new arsehole and also Gazza at the Brit against Everton in the cup he ran the show and that that was late in his career

The best player you've seen play for Stoke was in goal for us against Leicester in 2008 and you think his name was Steve Banks? Steve Banks played for us in 2002/03 and he was a goalkeeper. Now i'm obviously still lost because he's not very good, so that leads me to believe that you're being sarcastic? Or do you think that a player who played in goal for us against Leicester in 2008 is the best Stoke player you've ever seen? Carlo Nash like? Like i say

For - Hoekstra against Reading.
Against - Robbie Fowler for Liverpool in the League Cup. A Wonderful footballer. To think he only got 26 caps for England when players like Heskey got 62!!

Cyril Sharrock, goalkeeper for Bamber Bridge vs Kidsgrove at Hollinwood road.
Went with a few mates on a stoke free weekend. We baited him big time. And like a legend, at full time he give us the finger. Lol.
On a serious note though Hoekstra vs reading or Thorney scoring 4 against Chesterfield was pretty special.

For Stoke, like most I will opt for Hoekstra. Brilliance.
Against Stoke I thought that Gascoigne playing in Evertons midfield was superb. Don't think he ever left the centre circle but he completely ran the show. Whether or not that was because we were shit I don't know but I was mightily impressed.

Considering Beardsley got hat trick that night ginolas performance is the one that stands out more. Ian clarkson got sent off because he was simply torn to shreds. A stand out stoke performance what I can think of is steins v utd. Simply outstanding striker performance

Best player I ever saw live was Georgie Best at White hart Lane. I was 8 or 9 and even then I knew he was different to anything I had ever seen before.
Best goalkeeper, never saw Gordon banks live so I can't choose between Pat Jennings or Peter Shilton.
Best defender. Bobby Moore. I saw him a few times against Spurs. He was just so immaculate and composed. Him and Jimmy Greaves had some great battles.
Midfielder, Glenn Hoddle, just shades Gazza.
Forward, Jimmy Greaves, better than Gary Lineker or Jurgen Klinnsman.
Not that I'm biased, of course.

I think Paul Scholes for Man Utd against us put in the single best performance I've seen in person, possibly two of the best performances I've ever seen. It was immaculate and on reflection I think it's fair to say that he was very poorly treated by the England set up. He was better than Gerrard and Lampard.

Best Stoke player - A?an Hudson Best player ever - Henrik Larsson I know it's based on how they played on that day, but for me zlatan is a far better player than Larsson was. Having said that when saying who's the best swedish player, none of zlatans family is swedish. He's more Bosnian/croatian.
