Thing is Pulis would be doing it by private jet - couple of hours each way, once or twice a week.
Tone would definitely take the job and you're right it would go down like a lead balloon on the Tyne but when has Ashely ever given a toss what the Toon faithful think?
Based on my experience Paul: an hour to the airport (from Sandbanks). Then an hour flight plus an hour to get to the training ground/stadium. It was also one flight a day to Newcastle from Soton. Looking at www.privatefly.com/private-flights/how-much-does-a-private-flight-cost.html, it would be about £10k/week for a return flight on a private jet to Newcastle. He'd have to get that into any contract I guess.
It'd be part of the deal that Ashley would offer him ... a guaranteed 12 month contract with the flight company would be had for £400k a year, easy.
Ashley (as well as plenty of club chairmen) helicopter all over the country as a matter of course, it'll be chicken feed (to Ashley) if that's what it takes to get his man.

My money's on TP walking away from Palace in the summer, bonus in his sky rocket... Then taking on Bournemouth while Eddie Howe goes to Palace, West Brom, Villa or Norwich... It'll be another managerial merry-go-round this summer, who knows how it'll pan out? All conjecture... he might stick with the Eagles and take Palace into Europe next season, building on their Cup credentials, learning from his time with us. But I don't think there's a chance he'll go to the Toon, Spurs is more likely. His stock is certainly rising.

I could see Ashley wanting Pulis. A few years back he offered the job to Harry Redknapp and offered to fly him up to Newcastle from Dorset so he could certainly be tempted by Pulis. However, I doubt TP would accept the Newcastle job. He'd get paid more but I don't think money is really what presses TP's buttons. If it were he wouldn't prefer the rolling 1 year contract he had at Stoke and most of his clubs. That limits the amount of compensation he gets offered if he is sacked. If money was his motivation he'd be wanting a 3 year contract every time. I think Palace is a pretty good "fit" for TP. Southampton is closest geographically but has a totally different ethos to him with its jewel in the crown being a top class Academy. Pompey have fallen too low to afford him. That leaves London, Cardiff, Bristol and Reading as the options with potential appeal. Most of the London clubs apart from Palace and Fulham consider themselves a cut above TP - certainly their fans do. The Bristol clubs are too far down the pyramid. If Pulis did leave Palace Reading might appeal but Cardiff, who he has supported since childhood, would be the job he would want - not whilst Tan was in charge though! I think he'll stay at Palace for a while yet.

Pulis to Newcastle? Pulis teams play like Allardyce teams and Allardyce was chased out of Newcastle for the way the team played (okay they were losing game after game as well).
Pulis to leave Palace? I don't think so. Palace need him to steady their set up and do what he did for Stoke. They have already learnt that there are not too many managers who can keep a rookie team in the Prem and when you find one, you don't let them go. Pulis is also attached to the south coast. Palace is an ideal club for him right now.
Pulis to anywhere? I think he'll stay at Palace until Wales ask him to do a job for them.

Pretty concerning really when you consider the job he's doing at Palace and now getting linked with an even bigger club than the one he left. Concerning because obviously TP didn't lose his enthusiasm for management which begs the question just why he's no longer our manager. I hope the Coates family back Hughes but I have my doubts. He's no longer our manager because for the latter part of his tenure he lost the plot. I can't remember him being so adventurous away from home when he was here; now he's Mr Entertainment! Tone could have had a job for life if he had been less stubborn.

Can't see TP wanting to commute from Sandbanks. I think this is a non-starter. I agree not sure that it would work anyway

I think he's fell on this away form in the pursuit of us. I bet he even wanted know if we were winning at half time yesterday. He never went out to attack away from home. He's either intent on chasing us down and rolling with it, as at the moment it's working, or has looked at how we've gone about things at stoke whilst out of work and learnt that he was too cautious before and if he gets another chance he'll be more adventurous. Either way it's worked....at the moment.

The job he has done this season is better than martinez last season who got everton, or rodgers before then who got liverpool. Based on that, he should be looking at the Spurs job when Sherwood is sacked. They would never give him the chance though even though he has more than proved he deserves it.
Sad that he will never truely get the recognition his performance warrants.

Why will he not get the recognition? Isn't he constantly being touted as a contender for Manager of the Year by the media. Personally I would love to see him have a go at the Prima Donna footballers who populate the so called big clubs, and see if he can emulate Rodgers and Martinez. It's a different ball game managing a club where expectations are low, compared to the ones who think it is their divine right to win every week.

I have a dream of a utopian future where the Premier league introduces a new rule. The first club to sack their manager after November 1st each year has to accept TP as their manager until the end of the season. If it is successful and proves entertaining for the supporters of all clubs (and how could it not be) I would expect UEFA to role it out through Europe.

This would be an absolutely glorious turn of events for the fan reaction, but I'd hate for it to happen. They don't deserve the best Pulis can offer. Brilliant situation - TP would go from the frying pan to the fire. Plenty of spice for Tyneside - could TP handle it? Doubt it - the expectation would be way beyond CP.

Pulis has only been bettered by rodgers this season i think.

Pulis would believe (and that's the important bit) that he could get Newcastle into the top six or even higher. I think it's always pissed him off how the rest of football has looked down on him and his tactics/playing stile and privately I'm sure there's nothing more he'd like to do but show them all that he's actually the real deal.
He probably would be out of a job inside six months but I think TP's own self belief at the point of offer would mean that he wouldn't even consider that as an eventuality.

Yeah that's why Mark Hughes is getting all the plaudits for the fantastic way he's changed Stoke's playing style whilst steering them to potentially their highest Premmiership finish isn't it? Talksport after years of slating us have been referring to us as the new Bayern Munich in recent weeks.
Pulis is getting massive recognition for the quite unbelievable job he's done at Crystal Palace, pure and simple.

Mmmmm - I'm not sure about that. Trouble is Newcastle do have problems at the moment. They never replaced Cabaye and they are becoming a club where the owner appears to be happy to tread water. TP does like his owners to have ambition - and for TP with no history of bringing through youngsters, that means spending money. Ashley certainly has money but he doesn't look to be that keen on spending it at the moment.

Not everybody blamed it on the economic downturn, scandalous I know but some actually blamed it on the (lack of) entertainment on offer
