And here's me expecting to read that I'd spelt it wrong, which I had actually by putting a 'n' instead of a 'm'. Lol.

I don't think this country is a shit hole to be honest - despite the best efforts of the lazy and stupid to convince us all otherwise

As a lot of you know I now live in Thailand and love it here, however I would not really want to retire here, if I had the money I would retire to Shenzhen is South East China, about 45 min ferry ride from Hong Kong. Was there a couple of weeks ago, and going back again on Wednesday, just spotlessly clean, civilised, fairly cheap and you just feel very safe there. I think Britsabroad lives there... I can think of many words to describe Shenzhen but civilised would not be one of them People tend to visit places in the developing world and just see the good weather and sandy beaches, but living there you realise the grass is not always as green as you think it is. Having said that, I never realised just how bad the UK has gotten until I moved away. I like to think one day I'll end up in Sydney or California.

Did you go there with Blurton High?..... I did, first time I went abroad Lovely little campsite near Saint Sampsons, 4 of us stuck in a 2 man ridge tent for a fortnight. Always wanted to go back one day but never have Yep 3 of us.....vitta and brooksie We spent most of the fortnight stuck in camp on cooking and toilet duties for pulling the toilet tent down on mrs jones one night I Remember that close by bay we all used to go at night for a menthol fag .......it was called........Dogshit Bay I was confined to camp over there a lot of the time as well .....for various misdemeanours including stealing booze from the teachers stash tent. Didn't stop em getting pissed every night though even when they had to drive the mini bus Mr vitta and his mates were some of the first lads I knew who were partial to the 'menthol' fags........fucking hippies

Always said my first choice would be Canada and second would be New Zealand. Never been either but both are part of the common wealth and speak English (other than the french-canadian) Canada has proper seasons as in good summers and real winters and both have great scenic country. I would say both are upcoming econimies aswell. Yep Canada is great. If only they watched football instead of fucking baseball. That's what I'd miss most I think.

Wouldn't mind a gaff on East Bay St in Charleston SC but that would require a serious amount of wonga.

It's very nice, but unless things have changed dramatically you've also got to pawn your bollocks to be able to afford to buy a beer, Freeport was 2nd in the world in ridiculously high prices when I was there, was years ago tho'. Nassau was a bit more reasonable granted, but still pretty dear. $4 will get you a beer anywhere in Freeport. Freeport (Grand Bahama in general), is also desperate for, investment. It's economy is on it's knees. Property there , especially land is very reasonable as there is so much of it. Nassau is and always has been expensive for most things. Outside of the hotels, $4 will also see you get a beer in most bars. Bloody hell! Sounds like the prices haven't changed much in nearly 30 years! When we were in Freeport the only place you could get any alcoholic drink for anything approaching a reasonable price was at the rugby club, as I said Nassau was cheaper, but was stiil expensive, think it was a pub with green shutters we used to use there, might even have been called The Green Shutters or summat like that.

It's like most places mate. Stay around the hotels and you will pay through the nose. Freeport rugby club is still thriving. The green Shutters closed for years and is now an Indian restaurant. I never was keen on it.

I never was keen on it. Freeport Rugby club absolutely hammered us at the actual game, they just kept giving it to this bloke on the wing that none of us could catch This wasn't in the hotels mate, the prices were high all over, trust me, matelots can be depended on to find cheap alcohol if it's out there We had just been to quite a few of the W Indies islands before we got there so were perhaps a bit spoiled price-wise, but a lot of blokes didn't go ashore much there because of the cost.
