If it's all the same to everyone on here, I'll judge him on five years of consistently good performances for us, rather than 45 minutes against Chelsea after months without playing. Ridiculous overreaction on here, especially after the year of garbage dished up by the American Danny Collins. Utter rubbish. Cameron offers far more going forward than Wilkinson ever will. Defensively he's marginally better but only in a side that sits with 9 men behind the ball. Open up the side and he looks ridiculously over exposed. We need a proper right back next season. Move Cameron in as a midfield option and Wilkinson out of the door. Time stands still for no man and there is no room for sentiment.

Wed have been better off putting Munniesa on even if he's left footed. Wilkos a liability going forwards and back. I like GCam but he's not a natural RB great cover though. For me one of the key positions that need addressing in the summer.

Cameron looked a poor full back last year and has given away goal after goal this year. He flatters to deceive going forward, as he can hang on to the ball fairly well but finds that the basics of passing a ball a few yards or crossing the ball without just hitting it as hard as he can evade him. Asides from the odd occasion he has found himself in the box, he offers as little going forward as he does in defence. In fact, even today Wilkinson has contributed more going forwards purely by virtue of occasionally completing a square pass to a team mate. He might be a decent midfielder, or useful cover in the middle, but he should never, ever find himself at full back again. Wilkinson needs a run of games now to win his place back and allow us to judge whether he can cut it in the new system as he did in the old system or if we need a complete overhaul in the summer, like the one we had at left back this summer.

I like Wilko. Coming on at halftime, losing at Stamford Bridge, and then Hazard comes on with fresh legs. Not an easy day at the office.

Simply not good enough at this level, that being said your 3rd choice RB, after Cameron and Wilson, is never going to be top quality. We would have lost anyway against a better side who closed us down and didn't allow us to pass at all.
Can't be overly disappointed with a lose their, big game next week and a win could see us overtake the barcodes this season.

I think you're cutting your argument to suit your Wilko/Cameron agenda mate. We need better than both but if it's a straight choice between the two then Cameron wins every time, and let's remember he isn't even a natural full back. People conveniently forget the regular rapings handed out to Wilkinson at places like Wigan every season, for example, in a Tony Pulis side that was set up to protect the back four. He's got no chance in a more open system.

Still our best right back. It's not like Cameron made a needless, clumsy challenge that could easily have been given as a penalty in the first half... He made 3 challenges in the box and won them all. get the facts right atleast.

Accident waiting to happen in every game he's played, which recently is thankfully few. But he's a local lad so that ok.

For arguments sake, Pieters and Wilko had very bad ratings today from the EPL. Both in the 5's Cameron, Wilson and Ryan had sub par at 6's ugh...

Apart from the pen, he did nothing wrong, I know giving the pen away isn't a small thing but if people on here can discard Walters peno goals to slate him, I can do similar to defend Wilko.

I think it says everything that he has been overlooked by Sparky. Today just confirmed WHY he has been overlooked. Silly challenge for the penalty and did not close down that Jackson 5 look-alike quick enough for the third goal. As much as i admire and respect Wilko as a local boy done good and as one of us, it is obvious he is not good enough to play at this level.
Yes, he did not have a good game today but all this criticism is totally unjustified, especially when you consider that he loves his club and you could never accuse him of 'shirking (ala Jones, Pennant and Palacios).

Wilko struggled to even to simple passes, I don't care if he is local boy, he is shite and today should put the nail in his coffin with us. Christ he is higher in teh squad than Shotton, both need to go. Cameron has been pretty good this season and the first half wasn't his best game but he is miles ahead of Wilko

As much as I love Wilko the local lad, the fact is he simply isn't good enough anymore.while no one can doubt his commitment and willingness to do all he for our club, I really think his time is up.
Under Pulis he was instructed to win the the ball and lump it forward, something he was comfortable with but we need more from our full backs now. The ability to confidently move forward with the ball, to look for a pass and accurately deliver it is becoming more important as we progress and sadly Wilko has never had these attributes to his game.
Maybe I'm being a bit harsh as he came off the bench but we cannot afford weak links. Anyone coming on as sub must be switched on and able to do their job without hesitation and fit in straight away. Today merely highlights the fact that the right back position has been a problem which was never properly addressed. Lets hope the summer window delivers us one... and not another pizza !

It's about team we do away with "the local lads", both utter gash...
Collymore pretty much branded Wilko as a shaven headed thug, sums him up pretty well and how he's earned a living for six years in the Premier is nothing short of a miracle.
