But to my reckoning, there still must be a fair lump left ? First point, is anyone from stoke supporters groups monitoring this fund ? Secondly, surly they could make Chelsea tickets half price, to use up this fund ?if it has to be returned, why not use it up ?

Could we see your calculations as to why you think there will be money left at the end of the season? I'm not saying you are wrong but, as I don't even know how many fans take up the offer of free coach travel, I couldn't even make an educated guess as to how much the club has spent.
As to monitoring, I'm sure the Supporter's Council are doing that (at least I assume the club gives them reports on the figures) but you could contact them to ask them to let us know the state of play.
I do know that one of the club's concerns about using the money to subsidise away tickets is that some of the tickets might get sold on and so the subsidy might line the pockets of those who don't go to away games. The Knot FM broadcast last Sunday mentioned this - it should still be available online.

If you worked on 10 buses per away game at 500 each.thats 5 thousand.. x 18 is only 90,000 and that's overpriced buses to Manchesters and Merseyside games, along with villa. as tickets falling into wrong hands, I know quite a few who been on free travel under someone else's name ! Does it really matter though ? Biggest thing this year is,our support away from home is worse with free travel.and yes I do attend every away game.

You are assuming that the subsidy paid to the bus company is only £10 per person per trip? (10 x 500 x £10) That may be reasonable for trips to Manchester and Liverpool. But trips to Newcastle, Sunderland, London, Cardiff, Swansea and Southampton must cost far far more per person to subsidise than that. Like I said in my earlier post, I don't know your figures are wrong (I just don't have the information) but I do doubt if the amount spent on subsidising the trips is as low as you suggest. I'm certainly not criticising your attendance at away games. You clearly go to more than the 6 or 7 I get to each year.

Send me details and ile price it up..as for away support dropping. around 3 to 4 private hire coaches have stopped. also the support going on private hire ttravel,do so because they want a different type of day to what the club offers. and if they haven't got a private coach to go on,they're just not bothered to go at all.again I know this to be fact.I would still like someone who has meetings with the club to ask how the money is allocated ? And how much coaches are ? And if loads of the grant left, why not use it all up on a expensive day out at Chelsea ?

If the tickets are too expensive then I think boycotting the game would be better.

If the tickets are too expensive then I think boycotting the game would be better. It's an interesting point. Presumeably in effect Stoke City "trousered" some of the WHU fund on Saturday being the difference in total value of the tickets WHU actually sold at the £20 discounted rate (2800 or so) versus what they would have sold at £30 (say 1800 or so). You can argue about the numbers but that's the principal.

www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/24446082no-one says it has to be spent in one year and the club would have had to budget for a better take-up as they couldnt predict the numbers, it may have even ended up costing more than 200K next season there is more money in the pot and now they know the interest of take-up can adjust and make additional plans as they see fit however for next season i think the club should engage with the supporters group to see other ideas to use it. i dont think discounting tickets is the answer as that 200k just finds its way back into the other clubs coffers away travel was a great idea and not only helps those who wish to use it but local coach firms etc. you cant please everyone but this was an opportunity to help the majority should they have wished to use it. some people always too quick to moan, cant too right from being wrong sometimes

What rubbish, why would anyone buy a full price ticket when they can get a discount from the ticket office? Nice to know the club has such a high opinion of its supporters.

Waiting 4 weeks for payment is pretty standard when dealing with another company, if you know your business you should also realise you're underestimating the cost of the scheme, you're quoting the price to hire the bus, stoke will I assume be working on the free "fare" as that is the real cost to them, 50 fares at £15 or £20 each not the £500 to hire the bus on that basis the £200k will probably have already been spent.

The clubs all agreed to spend £200k on it, so there won't be any money returned. And I don't think the PL will audit it, to ensure that the money is indeed spent. We can ask for the projected expenditure - whether the club will tell us is another matter. There are 19 away games, so it's just over £10k per game. I don't know what coaches cost, but we have got more long distance away games this year than we have had in past years.

That maybe but (and a bit off topic) Stoke fans (well the ones that catch busses from Stoke) have less miles to travel over the course of a whole season than any other supporter in the Premier league apparently.
A bit of useless information for the day.

10,000 per away game cost for coaches !!!!! What planet and calculator does some of you use !!!! So we took 20 coaches to man utd,man city and Liverpool did we ? And paid 500 Each for em !! Please feel free to contact me on any aspect of coach prices.and as much respect I have for Malcolm. the club has received a 200.000 grant from the premier league. the actual wording of the grant is "to improve the away day experience of the supporters away travel" please ring me Malcolm to confirm where this information comes from.the actual terms are a bit of a mystery ? Even on stoke city advertising at the beginning of the season, no credit to where the money to fund free travel appeared from ?west ham discounted tickets, Norwich do the same and take very good away followings,we put free travel on and our away followings go dramatically down ? It's definitely something the club should have asked supporters to vote on ? And when on here we complain of overpriced tickets at certain away games, the grant could be used for that ? Hence everyone who follows stoke and lives all over the country, gains ? So away support at expensive games should go up ? Again. free travel is good for some, cheaper tickets. everyone gains.
