£300,000 a week that's:
£15,600,000 per year
£42,837.14 per day
£1,785.71 per hour
£29.76 per minute

Absolutely disgraceful. I am very close to falling out of love with modern day football. Why is it?!! If they want to pay him that much then pay him that much. Football has been driven by the fans, the popularity of the premier league is unrivalled by any other league therefore it's where the vast amounts of money are. Like I said modern day football is driven by the fans. If people stood up for themselves and put their foot down about ticket prices and started to boycott then slowly the money in the league would dry up and popularity would die down and therefore the wages would fall. Until that happens and or there is government intervention people just need to get on with there own business.

It's all wrong when you see what nurses, fireman, police. Teachers etc earn Why the fuck use police, fireman, and teachers? All will retire at 60 on very nice pensions paid for by the tax payer. He will earn more in a week than a neurosurgeon does in a year. That is bloody wrong. After seeing how some of the police conducted themselves at old Trafford this season applauding them in any way sickens me.

Schumacher was earning around a million a week at his peak, if you include personal sponsorship, endorsements etc. Silly money, but you can sort of justify it for F1 drivers, as the chance of being killed is always there.

In a warped weird kind of way ...it's not so much of how much he's getting paid , it's the fact of how much of it will be wasted on absolute capitalist materials like fast cars , prostitutes , condoms , hair transplants , peppa pig books , expensive thongs, porn videos and restaurants , agents and gardeners....
Call me old fashioned , but I'm not jealous of Wayne Rooney and his lifestyle one little bit.
He's a thick bastuurd who should be pitied.
And I am unanimous.

David Beckham was on £26 million a year, other sports are on more than what Rooney will be on. Whilst it is ludicrous the amount of money been thrown around surely people should be criticising the club or even better criticising the premier league not the player , & for saying how much money he wastes why don't you check how much money he gives too charity.

Rooney just happens to be in the right place at the right time. George Best and Sir Stan weren't.
This obscene amount of money tells you far more about the Economic system we live in...than it does Wayne Rooney.

so how much of this 300k per weeks gets taken by the tax man ????
as much as i dislike the modern footballers wage at least the tax man takes the piss, i mean takes a large chunk of it, i cant however see any other silver linings but i should imagine the 140k'ish a week in tax will cover 1 or 2 extra nurses and firemen and all paid for by people with more money than sense

I don't earn £300k per week by the way.

The logic applied by certain posters in relation to the financial benefits of Rodney's tax affairs and the way it benefits the country beggar belief....
I am staggered. There is no moral excuse for paying this obscene amount of money or dissecting how much he gives to charity. The nativity of the rationale applied beggars belief...and the sad thing is how many use the same formula .
Just imagine if one was to enquire what a nun does for society and how much she gets paid.
Incredible.

thankfully HMRC closed the biggest loophole in 2011, a loophole which quoted Rooney amoung others wriggling out of paying 600k in taxes, the loop allowed the players to have 2 contracts with the football club, the first was salary and the second was for image rights, HMRC removed this, im sure there are other loops for some of their earnings but even with that loophole they still had to pay 28% of the earnings which is still more a year than 150 nurses earn

mumf anyway you shake it thats the rate of pay their employer chooses to pay them, do i agree with it NO, do i think its immoral YES, as i said its about the only silver lining i can find, alot of the money comes from overseas now so it does bring funds into the country even if it is just dodgy russian oil money
and be honest 45% of £15.6 MILLION PER YEAR going into the tax coffers from just one player isnt a bad silver lining as they go

He is paid by a private company. If they want or need to pay him that much they can. Even If he was paid less, the amount that firemen were on wouldn't change would it.
