Just said the offers he is considering were a mix of loan and permanent . Does that mean that Blackpool have actually accepted a PERMANENT offer from someone then? You'd have thought the idea was to loan him to the Prem for a few months to try and maximise his tribunal fee in the summer - while raking in £500k+ loan fee? Unless someone hit them with a £5-6m+ fee now.

Grapey, Blackpool had apparently accepted a 3m type fee from Swansea at the beginning of the window. If 3/4m was on the table now they would take it as otherwise they could run the risk of him going abroad to somewhere like Monaco and they won't get a penny. 3/4m will definitely get him.
We are the only North West club after him. In the summer he turned down Cardiff/Swansea because he wanted to stay in North West. Everything is teed up perfectly here for us to get him.
If we can't beat of the competition for Ince with so many factors in our favour, you have to wonder what is going on at the club. Opportunities don't come much better than this.

Aren't they just making his auction as public as possible to ramp up the £ from as many participants as they can attract?
Blackpool / Oyston want to flog him now for as much as.
Albeit the £8m cited from last year was bonkers (not that 'bonkers' doesn't happen of course in footie).
Equally Ince & his pa want him to be a free in the summer and to trouser a whacking signing on fee (consideration of which would need to be factored into any permanent deal now I suspect).
Which brings the loan back into play (he doesn't want to stay at 'pool obviously & the club want to guarantee some £ in the bag, now).
Is there such a thing as an agreement that secures a loan fee now AND a guaranteed fee in the summer if successful?
Don't think for a minute we'll get him either way and not even sure he's 'right' despite our desperation (see JT thread).

There is a deal there to be done. We can make as many excuses as we like but witha bit of determination and spending a bit of cash, Ince could be our player if we are serious about signing him.
This time last year he might have cost 8m. If we want him now, even taking into account the fee to Blackpool and an inflated signing on fee to Ince himself, he would be significantly cheaper.
We can't have it both ways. If we didn't sign him last year because the fee was to high and we don't sign him this time because the signing in fee/wages are too much, then where does that leave us? Living in cloud cuckoo land.
I've seen plenty of him. He is a very good player who is going to have a career at the top. He is good enough now to come into our side in the place if Walters and make a positive impact on the remainder of our season. It's that simple.
If we don't sign this lad now, when we have a proper chance to if we really want him, it's a decision we will regret for a long time.

Right, I bought into and semi applauded the stance of the club needing to take a different direction. I feel that every fan backed it and if not understood deep down, perhaps some did with a sigh of relief. I admit I was one of them thankful for the difficult decision the club made. We were coaxed to believe that transfers were to be different. They were to follow a different route of future value and youth.
Now, as it happens I think that Ireland and Odemwingie will turn out to be decent enough signings, especially if the latter replaces Mr Walters from now on! However, if there was ever a time that the Board wanted to back their words, to prove they bloody meant it then this is it. Go and make him a permanent signing! He fits the bill perfectly. As some have said, on this Board, if we aren't in there for starters then frankly it's a disgrace and secondly if we are in for him and we end up getting out muscled by Palace, Hull or Swansea then I fear for our longevity in the Prem!
PLEASE SIR PETER BUY THIS LAD!

Of course, in an ideal world, we wouldn't have the 'JW problem' and I'd still ultimately disagree with you on the guarantee of his immediate impact and perhaps him as a long term A grade solution.
But of course we do (amongst others) and it is a priority too, so maybe needs must in the context.
Nevertheless, it remains a test of our:
- speed of movement in the market (no tick)
- attractiveness (Mmm...half a tick?)
- our (Les') judgement of his worth at £3 / 4m if it is that (dunno - yes, should be a tick at that)
- PC's budget (we tabled £5m for Riviere didn't we, so it's there, but is it there for TI? - see above - tick tbc)
- & are we still saving that cash for Riviere or ano A lister? (Doubt it)
All equals 'far from certain' to me.
And the first one will probably put the mockers on it anyway and we'll have ano weary moan from Les come Friday about more missed targets.

Thing is IF it is a loan then a few clubs, who you would consider to be the likely destination are out:
Us Villa Hull Fulham Everton Palace Sunlun
Leaving those that could/might:
Castle Narrich Southampton Baggies Hammers Spurs

So us and Sunderland are either in for him in a permanent or complete and utter make believe? And out of those, you can see why Swansea look to be in the box seat.
Despite slight personal reservations, begs the question why were / are we not in the mixer?

Aren't there strong whispers that Laudrup's going to jump ship come the summer?
Maybe potentially makes Swansea less attractive.
Geography would surely have us in the box seat, if we could put a decent permanent deal on the table.

For that to happen Grapey, we'd have to be able to distinguish our 'transfer arse' from our 'transfer elbow'.
And yet, despite the brave new world of Carto, it really does seem beyond us.

Why waste more £ on that when we have a perfect body double for a 45(?) year old, 15 stone, 5'10" manager.
As long as it's not too windy of course.

Hughes knows his Dad, Tom and Butland will know each other from the U21's, we've got facilities to match anyone's and he has virtually a guaranteed starting spot. If we can't beat literally everyone else around us for his signature, we deserve to go down. All correct BUT you need the owner to spend the money. It ain't happening. Money isn't an issue here, he is out of contract in the summer and it's a nominal fee, maybe even a couple of £mill for the 6 month loan, tops. It purely down to pull.

He's not a Bosman in the summer due to his age though, is he? They could be angling for £5-6m from a tribunal, and point to the £8m bid they turned down to strengthen their case. If he does spend 4 months in the Prem, they probably think it'll add money on to his value as well as give them maybe £1m as a loan fee? It's hard to know what figure they'd accept now as a permanent transfer fee?

The fact that he didn't sign must give hope that Swansea aren't necessarily nailed on for him. Then the Monaco interest came which made Blackpool shit themselves. The bottom line is there is a deal to be done.

When was the last time that a player went for serious money through a tribunal though? Didn't we have to pay out around £250,000 for Peter Sweeney despite Millwall demanding something toward £2mill?

That's why a 4/5 million starting off bid with the possibility of add ons wouldn't be a bad idea even with 6 months left on his contract. Im sure they would rather take the money now than wait, but I don't see us anywhere near to that figure.

Thought he was? (A 'free' - his contract ends).
But much like CKP, I can't be arrised to google it, sorry.[/quote] Apparently not, rsb. linkHowever, any deal would depend on the verdict of a tribunal hearing which would take place in June, to decide on what compensation fee Blackpool would be entitled to receive for the England under-21 international. Under English football rules clubs can seek a fee for players under the age of 23 who become out of contract, based on the cost of developing their talent and potential loss of revenue.
Problems could arise if Blackpool argue they should receive a figure close to the £8m they agreed with Cardiff City last summer, before Ince turned down the switch and opted to remain at Bloomfied Road
Everton would likely turn their attentions elsewhere if the compensation fee was in excess of their valuation of the player, although they will still go ahead with the hearing in the hope of doing a deal.

Yeah. I don't really know what the criteria are? Is length of time they've been at the club a factor? How strongly would the panel weigh the £8m bid last summer? Last big one I remember was Daniel SturridgeI do kind of agree that about £4m would do the trick now, but I don't really know what he's "worth"

Money isn't an issue here, he is out of contract in the summer and it's a nominal fee, maybe even a couple of £mill for the 6 month loan, tops. It purely down to pull. It does come down to money as he isn't free in the summer at all, he is out of contract but as he is under 23 the club who sign him will have to pay compensation, all I think Blackpool are doing is trying to entice a few tasty bids so they can pocket a loan fee now and then go to a tribunal saying 'look what people were prepared to pay for him 6 months ago, and since then he's played in the top flight we should be due more than that now' Of course compensation was brought in to reward teams for developing youngsters and these tribunals usually take into consideration cost of development and bringing a player through the ranks and this is where Blackpool fall short as he was at Liverpool until the age of 18 so they might get a lot less than they're expecting.
