It's fucking disgusting and no wonder our game is going down the shitter when dickheads like Neville are pedalling this bollocks. So far we have had two ex defenders saying this shit,I wonder if they would have been saying it when they were making slight contact with opposing forwards in their playing days?

In that respect my opinion hasn't changed... Same for goes for Michael Owen. Their pockets are never full.

Surely in this shit modern game defenders need to be wise to it.
There would be more bookings for diving
If that is the strikers plan you have to counter it

The talk shouldn't be on so much as the penalty incident it should be about those officials failing to do their jobs properly because if they had have done then that incident never happens.
It should also be about that if a player wants to attempt to gain an unfair advantage by blatant cheating if a straight red would stamp it out.

Course, that's only if you have the ref in your pocket. If it was Walters who took a dive????

Like I said for a laugh we should start running into defenders and going down just to make a point.

I can't imagine the FA will be too happy about him promoting that opinion. I don't think much of it either. I don't care whether he's opposed to SCFC or not, it's just wrong.

That is such a hypocritical thing for Neville to say.
I'm sure on the depths of the internet there will be some footing of Neville having a go at a player/referee for diving.
Such a ridiculous viewpoint. Football is going down the shitter and fast.

Gamesmanship, clever play call it whatever but its bastard cheating simple as that. It was a dive pure and simple.

I remotely do not see what he has said is wrong
Get with the corrupt programme
The Premier league is not about honesty, it is not about a gentleman's game, it is not about the supporters, it is not about the just, it is about winning
Not for the glory, not for the knowing you won in the right way, not for the fans and not for your own self esteem
It is about the money. The money will give you every excuse you need. That is the modern footballer and the modern football manager and the modern chairman and the modern supporter

Alan Smith ( was a striker at Arsenal) has written an almost full page article on page 20 of today's Telegraph Total Football. The article is headlined ' Hodgson should invest in Sterling. He heaps lavish praise on Sterling. Smith wrote at one part....'in anticipating Wilson's pass, Sterling, admittedly did use his arm to knock the ball forward. But having got away with that one, he then attacked the defender to win a penalty. To many the winger went down too easily. For me it was a foul Sterling exploited to the full.'
The media have a lot to answer for, in my opinion, regarding the state of today's game.

tbf, if one of our players had have won a penalty like that we wouldn't be complaining, also Wilson shouldn't have put his leg across. Beside that it's over now and we should be focusing on to the next game, onwards and upwards.

I shouldn't be too surprised by that as Alan Smith is a prize pillock but....and i'm not wanting to come across as all sanctimonious however i'll risk it and see what occurs. How contemptible is that AND Neville's comments. It's got bugger all to do with the fact this is Stoke City related, honestly it hasn't, that just greases the wheels. It's simply an absolute disgrace that not only players get away with cheating, generally, if you want to include our players in that then by all means but it's not only CONDONED but PROMOTED by ex-players, journalists and those within the game. Gone to the dogs is right, when 7 year old kids are playing football they'll all be at it, they see it all over the place and it's "clever play" and why not call one another "fucking cunts" while they're at it. The FA has now decided that is fine, as Alan Pardew apologised for it after all, bless the smug narcissistic twat. Modern football.

It wasn't cheating, the only cheating about it was that the ref didn't stop play for handball. Stirling is a small lad and Wilson's legs knocked him down, he didn't appeal for the penalty. We need to get on with it.
