Dear Mark, Coaches, Players, Backroom Staff etc,
Thank you.
It's all we ask.
Pride, heart, guts and a refusal to believe what "they" say about Stoke City. About what we were, are and could be.
Play with that desire, belief and conviction every week and you can create a special place in our special history for every single one of you.
You each have the chance to achieve something special and unique.
Give us what we all want. A team to take pride in, players who we believe in and that certain something that makes us different to every other football club in the world.
I take pride and pleasure in that defeat because I think Stoke City FC stands on the verge of something very special.
Thanks again.
PS Play like that every fucking week please.

I dunno....bar the back header and given the fact that Suarez in that mood is unplayable he wasn't that bad.

We really can mix it with the big boys when the game is open and attacking.
Please, Mr Coates - back your manager and give him the means to win this type of game...

I also think things are looking promising.
If I have a criticism at the moment it is the quality of our crossing, especially from setpieces.

Although people here are calling for a new defence, and new strikers - I would be happy to just watch games like today's, every match.
Beats the shit out of the dour, turgid crap that we have had to endure over the last couple of years.
We have a good team. I have no doubts about that at all.

I hope that's the Royal 'we'. Whilst we competed for the majority of the game, and Whelan stepped up to the plate and put in his finest performance for a couple of years, and of course Charlie took it by the scruff and drove us on whenever he could, suppose Walters ran back to the spot for the re-start quite rapidly after he'd scored. I know Liverpool have some good players, and are quite incisive on t'break.
We knew that, but still sat back and allowed them too much space. We had some nice interplay and moments of individual flair which fizzled out. Lacking imagination from the dead ball, roaming players, and too many suicide passes. Broken on both wings. We weren't owt special today, neither in ball control nor balls. I loved the first half claw back...
No massive pats on the back from me.
I enjoyed the contest, but must do better.

Fair points raised and it has felt like we have still sat back far too much of late, much like the Stoke of old but I disagree with you on todays performance. I think we threw the kitchen sink at Liverpool in the last 15 minutes to try and get back into the game, and inevitably that left us more exposed at the back. In equal measure though, it really could have paid off had a little bit of luck been on our side and the two that hit the crossbar and post dropped behind the line and not away from it. I was left gutted today, thought we more than matched that high flying Liverpool side throughout and going forward we showed real quality with some excellent link up play, I can rarely think of an occasion when we lost the ball in the final third like we are prone to do.

Perhaps a bit over-negative, but it is my thoughts on the giddy gist of the thread. "We'll be over the moon if we get served that every week."
I'll be far from happy. I acknowledge that we missed Bego and Assaidi today, some positives, but still, loads of room for improvement. We've seen them play better.

Mmm, think we are falling into a bit of trap here!. In that we have to remember we conceded 5 goals at home. On top of the 5 at Castle and 3 at Spuds.
Doesn't help they have 1 player who has scored more than we have all season!
We just need to be careful not to turn into the baggies trap, pretty, entertaining but ultimately not enough points to stay up!
2 x massive away games coming up, now if we can get points from them, then things will feel a bit better!!
Don't get me wrong I agree with a lot of comments made in this thread, but to make a proper change the manager needs financial backing, which I don't think he will get.
We should never forget it's a results business and nothing else!

I've just watched it late & have to say its wonderful to see us going toe to toe against what can be considered one of the best attacking teams in the league. Wilson & Shawx fucked up for the second goal, the first was pure luck. The penalty was a joke & we could've scored the 4th in the dying seconds. Fucking excellent effort Stoke , you've done us proud

I must live in another world to you lot.
Perhaps one of the poorest tactical offering I've ever fucking seen in relation to the level that we play at.
When was the last time we conceded 5 at home in the league?
To give up such a wonderful record against those cunts in that self destructive manner was scandalous.

When was the last time we conceded 5 at home in the league? To give up such a wonderful record against those cunts in that self destructive manner was scandalous. Defensively we were poor but against arguably the most in form striker in the world we were always going to be vulnerable. I'd take the 3-5 defeat with heart, character and the balls to attack over a 0-2 defeat with a defensive, damage limitation set up. Personally I felt proud watching the way in which we went about the game despite mistakes and obvious areas to work on. I can't help but feel positive and optimistic about the future if we can play with that kind of positivity and tempo. I get the criticisms and nowhere in my OP do I say we were perfect (a 5-3 home defeat suggests there's lots to work on) but overall I felt, and still feel, happy with where we are and how things are shaping up.

Why bring Pulis into it?
I'd take a high scoring defeat against a low scoring defeat but those aren't the choices we've had against the bin dippers are they!? We had never lost to them at home in the league before yesterday.
We can't throw winnable games away. We are on target for barely 40 points again and we can't be so flippant about tossing points away.

Are you honestly telling me that wasn't a reference to Pulis?
