We definitely aren't East Midlands even though our dialect is quite close to theirs but ours isn't as whiny or horrible. And the actual accent is close to Scouse too, which always winds me up when I get called a Scouser usually by some posh cunt. The East Midlands accent though can affect people as far west as Hilderstone though. This. I left Stoke when I was three and now have a strong Yorkshire accent. However when I try and describe the stoke accent (I am rubbish at impressions so would never try it) I say it is very close to Scouse. Sorry genuine stokies!

Just watching the rerun and in the pre match amble, Ed Chamberlain says that West Brom & Villa are the only two Midlands teams in the top flight!
The two managers discuss the "Midlands derby", clubs not much more than 4 miles apart
Alan Parry in his opening sentences - local derby, traditional rivals - only Midlands clubs currently playing at the highest level!

It's just that other people have no idea what it is or where we're from.

Slow news day :-) Saves people being outraged that Brian the dog was killed off in Family Guy! Can't I be outraged by both?

If the peoples of the North rise up and march on London (via Birmingham which is looted and raised to the ground) which side would you be on?

I'd be with the north!
I've always felt more northern than midlandy but that might be because of a strong dislike for Wolves and Birmingham!
We're a Northern city that's been exiled to the Midlands for a crime lost in the vaults of time. A crime that may or may not have had something to do with Terry Henfleet.

Can we annex N-U-L? It's that or just destroy it. Is this how Hitler started?
