Biddulph, the last bastion of North Staffordshire, bordered with the Cheshire scummers of Congleton Anyway, we get (and always got!) Central and Granada, in fact Granada was our our ITV region of choice Back in the Lou era, we were often the highlight of Granada Soccer night with Elton Welsby (top presenter!) and some very young Rob Mccafrey / Rob Palmer commentary ! Always consider myself a Northerner over Midlander, Biddulph is a bit further north I guess

I lived in Lichfield - it was all Wolves, bit of Villa, a smaller bit Brum. Here it is the shit, dippers or Stoke, with a smaller bit unwashed :-)

A professional football commentator who doesn't know where Stoke-on-Trent is. Maybe he uses the same sat nav as Roy Hodgson.

From the urban dictionary.
2. throbber
Scots. A derogatory term for a contemptible and stupid person. It's origins derive from the aroused state of the penis and hence is used only as a term of abuse for males; although as the genders are becoming harder to distinguish in certain housing schemes in and around the city of Glasgow this can no longer be guaranteed. If one is behaving in a ridiculous manner, and apparently irritable to everyone in the vicinity, one can expected to be denounced as a 'throbber'.
3. throbber
Alan Parry

Message to Sky Sports
Very disappointing to hear Alan Parry refer to the WBA V A Villa game as the only Midlands derby in the Premiership. He mentions the "fact"? several times. Stoke City are in the Midlands. North of Birmingham yes, by 45 miles. The club features in the Midlands news (terrestrial) - where do Sky think that Stoke on Trent is? Please review this and acknowledge that we are one of 3 Midland clubs in the Premiership - all founder members of the football league.

just shows that these twats that are pundits and commentators haven't got a clue. they think that west midlands is the whole of the midlandsThis. They shouldn't even be calling it a Midlands derby. It's a West Midlands derby. A Midlands derby would be Leicester City vs Coventry City (East Midlands vs West Midlands)

The 'Birmingham News' otherwise known as 'Midlands Today'', feature Port Vale (in Staffordfordshire, apparently) in their sports bulletins. However, they don't feature Crewe or the Macc Lads (both Cheshire). Is this the true divide?
p.s. Apologies for my use of four-letter words in the above.

We're in the wilderness. The lost tribe of Stoke on Trent - not wanting to be from the midlands or from the north and not wanted by either.
Fuck them all.
We are Stoke.

Hang about a bit!!
I don't consider Stoke vs West Brom a "derby" match? or Stoke Villa a "derby" match? I would say that Stoke v Wolves would be a "derby" match as this implies, as it is, ...local, based on the old Staffordshire connection.
In someways Villa vs West Brom IS the only derby match in the Midlands now as they are very local to each other.
I think he may be aware, and also agreeing with some of of the posters on here, that Stoke may be in the Midlands but that we have no connection at all with Birmingham or the Black County.
The only Midlands "derby" .... yeah...maybe he is right. We are in the Midlands, but these matches would not be a derby match for us?
EDIT -- Just so everyone is clear though... this does not detract from Alan Parry being a cock (and if you were from the Black Country that would be considered a compliment not an insult!....hence my point )

I have an ordnance survey map which put Stoke-on-Trent squarely at the foot of The North. And I agree.

The term Merseyside derby or Manchester derby does involve 2 teams from the same city. We hear the term Lancashire derby, North East derby (does this include Middlesbrough?) London derbies? North London derby .... Not sure that this aspect matters However, one part of the Sky commentary and comments made on Midlands today, spoke of the match being a clash between the only 2 Midlands teams in the Premiership! As mentioned earlier, the Midlands has 3 teams in the premiership, all founder members of the Football League and we are one of them

I am happy to be inbetween the Midlands and the North West.
North West Soccer special always used to treat us as one their own. I happy with that.
