I don't know if my mind is playing some tricks With me, but I seem to remember that Ric was only a loan With a view to a permanent siging? If so I would say Ric, Ryan, Rory, Liam and Taggs!

Pretty sure we signed Ric outright from the get-go.

Taggart, Shawcross and Hendrie are definitely up there with the best load signings that we've made. The worst? Ameobi! Thread over. Amoebi was utterly fucking gash. When he got stretchered off at Coventry I cheered. It added to a truly fantastic day when we won with Lenny's screamer.

Patrick Berger...superb loan signing
Wasn't Nash originally signed on loan in our promotion season?

Pretty sure we signed Ric outright from the get-go. You might be right, but I thought it was only a loan in the first Place.

Salif Diao for me was the best.
A signal of intent that kicked us on to where we are now.

Chris Riggott, Griff, Parkin, Gallagher (under the fat Dutchman) all not been mentioned
Lee Martin was terrible, were Kolar and Junior on loan?

Possibly the first ever loan player at Stoke (unless anyone knows better)?? Harry Dowd, who made 3 appearances between the sticks in 69?
I still remember vividly, him deputising for the injured Banksy at Old Trafford and playing out of his skin against his parent clubs local rivals.

Jay bothroyd was a shocker and was it pressman we had in goal in the early 90s? He had a mare in the 1st leg against Peterborough.

But if you read the link on the OP it talks about two players Stoke loaned/borrowed in the first season. Two Preston reserves made up the numbers for a match against Preston that Stoke still lost 7-0.

Stephan sward looked classy Do you mean Sebastian Svard? If so, congratulations on an absolutely belting misremembered name. My top five [in this order], would be: Marek Cwossley Gary Teggert Robert Shycross Arthur Gunlysson Liam Hendry

Crossley was definitely the best going back further Tony Spearing was good, the worst Billy GBH tackles Whitehurst and little Ants bestie Chris Clark.

So many in that period where we struggled. For me, without crossley, we would have been relegated. He was that important. Before then, I consider deon burton as he scored a crucial goal in the play off semi 1st leg vs Cardiff to give us a glimmer. He also scored in the final so crucial goals for me there
