We've had an off day, away from home to one of the top teams in the league, a ground we consistently lose at.
However we haven't sat back we've still tried to have a go. Alan smith was right when he said arsenal have done too much defending for a team about to win 3-1
Arnie has played well, more time for Ireland, the return of Wilson plenty of positives.
Not a complete disaster.
Better be off the pace away at arsenal than home to Norwich

There's a few things;
The W's, scoring in a brothel (we wouldn't) and set piece defending but I expected a 3-0 defeat so the 1 makes it slightly better.

Certainly not a lot to moan about there.
It's frustrating that Stoke, of all teams, give three absolute nothing goals away - pretty much all they threatened us with was from set-pieces.
We can take quite a bit from that second half performance. We looked very comfortable and in N'Zonzi and Cameron, we had the two best players on the pitch

Positive signs for me (apart from the shocking defending from set pieces).
I think we need to drop Walters & Adam. Other than that we are not far off being a decent team.
We're just lacking that killer instinct & final ball.

Lets be honest apart from 3 sloppy set pieces which started from sloppy fouls, they haven't done an awful lot Arsenal.
Second half we were the better side, we just need Marko and Ireland from the start and a decent goalscorer.

Apart from our defending being fucking abysmal and us being in dire need of a striker there were encouraging signs today.

We cannot do anything about our striker issue until January so it's moo point.
We are creating chances though, nothing much today though but the evolution is wOrking, the shoreline flatters them

Worst performance of the season but still we weren't looking bad value for a draw before the ball looped off the top of Sagna's head.
Other than the manure game October and November are full of much more winnable games than we have faced so far. If we keep playing as we have been then we should still be top half going into the Chelsea game. I'm still feeling very optimistic.

Negatives....reverting to Pulisball 1st half, woeful defending from set pieces, poor final ball and no goal threat. Positives...we actually took the game to them 2nd half, looked comfortable in possession,Palacios looked ok
I was expecting more from Arnie in an attacking sense, maybe that will come when he settles in

We knew our strikers were shit in May, we know they're shit now, it should have been sorted. But it is more of a long standing issue much like the W's and set piece defending.

Evolution very much on track.
Second half was like watching another sport compared to pretty much every other away game over the last 5 years.
Mindblowingly encouraging - apart from (and a big apart from) the lack of real chances fashioned and the sloppy defending from set-pieces.
N'Zonzi just dictated everything second half.

Overall things are far better than they have been for years.
N'Zonzi and Cameron were excellent today, however Adam and Walters were absolutely awful (again).
Wilson is still yet to convince me in the midfield.

Re the striker issue, I think it was obvious the club tried to address the issue. Hopefully they'll have another go in January.
On the plus side, it's the only area of the team crying out for improvement so you'd think pretty much all of our scouting is based upon snapping up a goal scorer.
Anyone know if Diouf signed a new contract after his reported talks by the way?

Wilson is still yet to convince me in the midfield. I thought Walters did his job very well today. He held the ball up and distributed it. His lack of pace cost us a few potential chances, but for me replacing him is a much lower priority than getting an aggressive goalscorer, backup CB and an alternative creative midfielder for when Adam is misfiring. Adam had a bad game but last week he was decent and on a good day he runs the orchestra. I think Ireland didn't have a great game either. He moved and did plenty of short passes, but whenever he tried to create something he gave them the ball and one time he gave it away in our half for nothing to leave them with a scoring chance. Give us a player like Lukaku, Benteke or Cisse and with today's team we'd be top half contenders easily, even if players have the odd off-day.

Sloppy defending, perhaps deserved a draw, but never really created any clear chances. Thought we were dominating play until that 3rd goal which really killed us off a little. Fair play to the players they still kept trying even at 3-1 down. A positive display and when a couple of the new signings gel better then we might see us creating a little more in the final 3rd. Im not to disappointed by that permormance though and hopefully we carry on with this attitude towards the top teams.

That's the main concern, Tazi. We are playing infinitely better football but our long standing Achilles heel still hasn't been addressed. I suppose it was a big ask to totally overhaul the strikers we had from last year but I was hoping we'd have done something.

I can see Arnie chipping in with a few goals, sort the front man issue in Jan and all will be fine. After seeing us so far this season and seeing everyone else, we will not be in a relegation battle.

He looks like he could be a legend. Some of his first touch control was awesome, and he worked hard and tracked back well in defence while marauding forwards in attack. It could all go to shit though, we've got a lot of potential attitude problems with KJ, JP, Arnie and Nzonzi in the team. But I'm still hopeful that we can gel them into a good squad since we've found out that we've got some real talent in our team now, and most of them bought for bargain basement prices. We paid about £7m altogether for N'zonzi, Cameron and Arnautovic and today they all looked class.

If you knew anything at all about football you'd have Walters in your team ... Anyone who knows football will understand why he generally starts. Football Manager players and those who have never played to a decent standard simply won't get it. Fact.

Ireland did nothing to convince me he is worth a start today! H Both Adam and Ireland had pretty poor games as they're supposed to be playing as our 'outlet' through CM. That's one of my slight worries, but for me a striker is the priority, followed by CB cover.
