serious question.....
just wondering how many others on here genuinely do suffer from it and how they overcome 'attacks' ???
i ve been suffering now for about 8 months, they seem to have peaked about 3 months ago and are slowly becoming less frequent.
at there worst i could nt go a day without havin at least one ? even woke me up in the night with a terrible feeling that i was about to die ( heart attack)
not the kind of thing ya can chat about to people that dont suffer, but does anyone else or has anyone previously suffered with them ?
cheers !

i did mate, mine started about 18 months ago now, brought on by taking to many drugs, first time it happens you think your having a heart attack. But believe me, they do become less, i havent had one for nearly 6 months now. sure you feel them coming, but you learn to control your body and make them stop. the best thing to do is embrace it, say "ok, my body is going to do this now, i know theres nothing up with me" ive had to get off buses, leave stoke games, lots of things to deal with it, but the best thing to do is ride them through, then eventually you get used to it, if you cant get to sleep, then have a wank, seriously, it works.
anything else i can help you with then just ask matey, i know it feels like shit but it does get less frequent

cheers ben88, mine may have been from smokin the green a while back i had no ill effect for 6 months after stopping but i m convinced its that that caused this. i ve had to leave the stand before at stoke to walk around the concourse area just to try and 'get away', walk out of work, stop playing footie during a match, pull over whilst driving, leave the pub, leave castle on a night out. at there worst it was terrible. i ve started to learn how to deal with them now. the ones that annouy me are when it happens when i m at the gym because i can feel my heart beat after working out. i went the docs but they wanted put me on anit depresents 'nothing up with me' i thought so never took them and refuse to in future.
Is it fair to say its all about wat u think rather than something physically wrong ?
cheers

very much paranoia enduced myfriend,
mine started after a very heavy summer, a couple of days back from leeds festival, took some garry-ablets and smoked alot of bud, woke up the next morning on a massive comedown, then it all kicked in, your always aware of your heartbeat, i still am, but it doesent concern me now, you might start getting chest pains aswell, dont worry, its not your heart, its anxiety causing them, herbal tablets dont work and neither do hot drinks, like i said, the best thing to do is ride them out, it will be alright soon, its all in your head, a couple of my friends have had this happen to them and it all seems to stem from to much green. i used to smoke it everyday, now i have it one night at the weekend and im alright, its not the same as it used to be because there is always that fear at the back of your head, but if you start very lightly you will be alright,

thanks for your help i ve had the chest pains, then the arm pains that you would associate with a heart attack ( i guessed that it was my head tellin me to feel those pains) i ve managed to get them under contol (ish) every week seems to be slightly better. i recently went on holiday and feared they would ruin it but it only occured a couple of times exalt for your time !

Ex girlfriend of mine started having them about 10 years ago whilst driving. Still does but not as frequent- she went to a hypnotherapist in Nantwich- she still drives but oddly still has them if she leaves town and is alone in the car. Most bizarre thing.

i would nt wish them on anyone.
strange that tour ex-girlfriend only has them whilst driving, i wonder if its her associating them to driving and that causes them to occur
Very in depth topic this haha

My lady does. She's always feels like she's struggling for breath. She shits me up most nights as well. I'll be fast asleep when all of a sudden she jumps up screaming!! Fook me it wakes you up!
She went to the doctor who gave her a series of breathing exercises which supposed to help.

maybe a relaxation excercise may help, just searched Google and found this RELAXATION EXERCISE Before each meditation exercise it is worth spending a few minutes relaxing the body. One way is to imagine/feel the tension moving out of your muscles and down your body so that all the tension finally runs through your feet and into the ground. Sit with a straight back, but do not overdo it so that the back becomes tense. Concentrate on focusing your awareness/attention on specific muscles of your body. Starting with your head, feel the tension drain downward out of your face. Move your awareness down the neck – imagine that you can push the tension downward and that the muscles relax and soften. Continue down the body, especially work on the shoulders and stomach muscles. Keep moving the tension downward until you reach your feet. At this point imagine all the accumulated tension is forced out of your feet and into the floor. Now bring your awareness to the centre of your chest. Imagine that there is a vast sea of peace in the centre of your chest. Spend a few minutes enjoying the tranquillity within yourself. Key points of exercise * Get rid of the tension within the body. * Be aware of the tension - and the tranquillity - within yourself. Purpose of exercise * Relaxing helps us to ‘centre’ and to feel that we are in the present moment Web addy - www.meditationworkshop.org/meditation_exercises

I used to suffer from them really bad, i bought some information from the internet was the best money i ever spent. It was simple really, long story short it gave techniques on how to deal with them, all the info led up to one thing when you'r having/starting to have a panic attack say to yourself make it faster make it worse please! sounds stupid but doing it just that one time stopped them for good.

I found this website to be quite helpful: www.nomorepanic.co.uk/Realising that it is "just" a panic attack and you're not about to keel over and die was the biggest step to get over for me - avoids you getting into a vicious circle. All the best

Stokeitup, Just saying that nobody knows what's going to happen next - tomorrow could be your last day? You never know? By the way, have you a ticket for the Leicester game? Seems a shame to waste it....
