Who was the number 34 playing full back? This. Who was that? Keane or Dawson perchance? Nice little drive forward by Muniesa followed by a backward pass. TP would have been going ballistic in the bushes. Keane

Gave the ball away 5 (FIVE) times during that very short clip to a 4th Division side. Very worrying. Oh fuck off March. You're still gutted your mate has gone. Give me that sort of passing over constant hoofing it upfield straight to the opposition every day of the week. Looks promising.

Trouble is I've seen them pay like that in training, it's speed of top flight football that'll stop us passing it. First steps and all that though

These are earlydays and LMH is a good manager. However, if we are still so slow and ponderous at Anfield we will get a real hiding.

Are we seriously gonna go with the carpet football tag? Deviating from Pulisball is obviously welcome but 'carpet football'? Not on your nellie. We're going to make ourselves look very simple if we profess to being a 'tiki-taka' team all of a sudden. Hughes has never and will never play that sort of football. We'll continue to be direct but with a greater emphasis on being more intelligent when we have the ball. Sparky has never and will never play the sort of football that can be remotely construed as 'carpet'. I don't see why it has to be one or the other anyway. We've seen from our squad that they perform best when they mix it up. I want us to remain direct but that doesn't necessarily equate to hoofball. Manure are the perfect example, they're one of the most direct teams in the league. Yet you can't label them as either hoof or tiki-taka, they play with a balance ie mix it up. It just goes to show the legacy Pulisball has left if some of our fans think that evolving from that style (the least passes of any team season after season) translates to us becoming a 'carpet' team. Did you watch that video ? I know it was only 2 minutes but it was pretty much Swansea in another shirt....and once we got to the penalty area we lost possession......and considering the quality of the opposition that doesn't bode well. Man U should be the barometer for every other team, that's how football should be played, especially if you have players of a lesser quality Swansea beat Yeovil 6-0 in a friendly on Friday night.

Think it all comes down to who you ask to pass the ball, with TP it was always the CBs to get it forward. To catch a team out on the break , its fine but to expect Shawx to pick players out from 30 yards with the opposition all back is a bit much. Then it become aimless punting to the big men. Endless passing to static players In front of the opposition is also tiresome. The secret to a passing game is keeping the ball moving to players who will move to accept the pass.

I bet Swansea didn't use 22 players in the match with only half their best players in each half. And, given their Europa League qualifiers coming up, I bet they are much further into pre season than we are. so no comparison is possible, really.

Gave the ball away 5 (FIVE) times during that very short clip to a 4th Division side. Very worrying. You do realise that when two football teams play, the defences are there to stop attacking teams getting through. When we did lose the ball it was invariably in the final third of the pitch, and whilst attempting something constructive, which is hardly "very worrying". Still if you're happy to watch footballers giving the ball away consistently with sixty yard punts, there's plenty of Sunday League players out there to keep you entertained.

Only we could argue for 3 pages about a 2 minute clip fron a training game.
Lets save the bitchfest until August 17th please.

Fucking hell, 'carpet football'. The last time I heard that shit phrase was with Billy fucking Bellend and Nudger Rudge up the Vale in the early 90s.

Cuvelier had 45 minutes too? In the 1st half? Yes, unfortunately (for him) Flo was on the left wing. But, given the desire to field two sides in the game and the fact that Shea was unavailable and Ethers and Ness injured, I suppose there wasn't much alternative. Hopefully Flo will get an opportunity in centre mid in one or two games in the USA. Hopefully Shotts will get a chance at right back as well - I'm sure he will.

And, given their Europa League qualifiers coming up, I bet they are much further into pre season than we are. so no comparison is possible, really. No idea but Michu scored twice. Yeovil are a championship side though who would have put out a decent team so of course there is a comparison, really ;-)

Who plays the ball to the left wing with about 10 seconds left of the video? Is it Whelan? Tremendous little pass. This is the one bit of quality in the video; good movement, great pass but the final ball was pish. The tippy tappy stuff didn't particularly impress me; possession without purpose is pointless.

It is but hopefully we combine that sort of game with the one we already know we can play. If we can, I think we have a winning formula.
