Hope you're alright mate, what pace were you going? I ran past an ambulance, may have been you. Went wrong for me yesterday, wheels came off just after half way and started to be sick. Managed to recover somewhat for mile 20 but damage had been done. 3:15 so still a PB, not happy with it after all the training though. Not sure what caused it but I'll have another go soon. 3:15 is not a bad time
Edit. Did you go off too fast. It's a fast course and I remember going through the halfway point at 1:34 for which I paid later.
Cheers, I went at the pace I'd been training for, and managed to get some decent marathon pace runs in. I have struggled a bit with hay fever last few weeks though which seems to have affected my pace, so in hind sight I probably did go too quick really. Passed half way about 1:28:30, about 6:45 pace. Looking forward to the Summer Series now though, hopefully I can build that pace up again.

Definite Chorlton Runners. 😉 as for the marathon, ended up in back of ambulance at 16 with much lower leg discomfort. Couldn’t even jog/walk so first DNF in 6 years. Strange thing is for whatever reason today my shoes felt very uncomfortable 🤔 a feeling of not enough comfort around heel area. Might be time to change from the Nike’s Hope you're alright mate, what pace were you going? I ran past an ambulance, may have been you. Id be ecstatic with that. Hope you are OK, was it a different gel or anything like that?

I went through Altrincham with around 4 mins in the bank, on for a 4:20 half...by the time I got to Brooklands at the 16 mile mark, I was struggling to jog/walk. Around 13 miles started to feel a lot of pain in both soles of feet, and subsequently right leg in general. Tried to break down miles into 1/4 walk, jog, walk etc but even with help from another Chorlton Runner I just couldn't get going again. As per Yes, the training went so well & the one and only season shit run was on race day!

4.5 mile run to the Whitley 10k, round in 47.10 and 4.5 mile run back home, a strong wind today.
Didn't realise but if I'd have pushed it I could have got club 1st male prize, was only 23 seconds behind a guy who raced it grrr. All downhill to London now.

Any blister preventing/treating/managing advice? Always seem to get the fuckers on one toe only...

Any blister preventing/treating/managing advice? Always seem to get the fuckers on one toe only... Vaseline inside and outside sock, compeed plasters, two pairs of socks. Make sure your shoes aren't too big or too small. The best solution is just to run more until your feet get calluses 😁

If it's easy to do and you can keep the skin all in tact then I usually do. If it's quite deep and you'll have to really dig at it then leave it.

Any blister preventing/treating/managing advice? Always seem to get the fuckers on one toe only... Twin skin socks, and Vaseline My favourite socks are hilly marathon fresh anklets. They're about £10 (a lot for a pair of socks I know) but they've lasted ages and they feel kind of silky and glidey, but they don't slide around inside your shoes.

I find bodyglide much better (& more expensive :-( ) than Vaseline
In related news, did the Maidenhead Good Friday 10 on Friday
Teresa May was a marshall - bloody good of her to spend some time marshalling when she has about a billion other demands on her time and probably would like to put her feet up occasionally

Spent a good few hours at Westferry with megaphone giving the beans to every Black Pear Jogger & Chorlton Runner I could see...and also a bit of a heated discussion with others who were encroaching towards the middle of road, so preventing others from seeing who was running!
As for never wanting to do another marathon...well Barnstaple is entered now, and obviously the ballot for London next year!
Will I ever learn?!

I was chatting to an older lady in the hotel at breakfast before the run, and then later on after, she was called Morag, was in the veteran females 75-79 group and finished in 6.03, she was also flying off to Oz yesterday for a holiday, a great little lady doing her 4th London Marathon.

Westferry, just before you enter the spectator dead zone ? the encroaching and pedestrian crossing pinch points is very frustrating when you are in a good stride you have to slow down etc. especially if you like to run a negative split like me. Sunday's 2nd half I overtook 3832 runners and was povertook by 39 Edinburgh in 4 weeks should be a clearer path.

Great spot for many a year...but the lack of crowd control was a let down. The marshal was only interested in his free food & chatting up a St Johns Ambulance girl. Next year will be more toward Westferry DLR, as the runners turn right... .....unless I get in!

Ive entered the ballot again, 8th rejection in a row probably I was having a conversation with one of the members of a local club circa 250? members. Someone has started to ask around to see if any of their members get in via the ballot and the answer coming back seems to be a resounding no. I suppose there's roughly a 1 in 10 chance of getting in so next year or the year after for you.
