So far with all the money pumped into the acadamy it has produced Ryan Shotton, who at best is a league 1 player. Pulis knew it's a complete waste of space. Pulis knows more about football than Coates.

Fucking hell fire...Hughesy has his work cut out. Not only does he need to finish in the top ten and coach the team but he also has to climb fucking mountains and sort the Donna Louise Trust out, visit other local hospitals etc as per OS's wishes and now you Johnno want him to coach the little kiddies as well.
RAF
If its ugly I would say it was ugly...then I'd throw him some money for a trust fund so that he could afford whores when he was older. Honesty and practicality....everything a best friend should expect!!!

I agree with that also RAF but of more importance is the nappy situation. Aldi nappies are really good and far better than pampers! ;-) Brilliant MCF...Absolutely brilliant. I am laughing as I sit here! What would be so difficult or time consuming for Hughes to wander over to where the academy lads are training, after the first team session has finished, and just spend a little time with them on the odd occasion? As the head of an organisation, surely it is something that you would WANT to do?

I presume that when the first team have finished training that the kiddies are at school When the kiddies train on a Saturday morning, then I hope that he will be with the first team I bet Pulis did watch them now and again and I bet Hughes will too. As for me, I'd ask if I could join in with the kids. Aldi nappies are a bit too slack for you aren't they RAF?

..but most of the players that Crwho now produce couldn't get near our first team. The kind of players that we want will be at the likes of Man Utd, Liverpool, Man City etc I honestly don't know enough about the London area but I see the big clubs in the North West pretty much hoover up the best players from all over the shop. I remember MarkW saying that he was hopeful that this may be changing so hopefully we will start seeing players come through. Not sure whether Hughes is kid focused or not but personally, I don't think that kind of pressure should be put on a manager - he should be looking at them in simple terms - are they good enough or not. If they are they are picked and if not then the scouting needs to be better or there has to be some kind of admission as to why we are missing out. Important area for the club this and I think too many people ignore the reality of how difficult it is - piss easy to say though Like Nick Powell?

I have no idea how good he is on the basis that I've never seen him play and he has barely featured for the Shit.
Time will tell

Hellu! I hereby just like to say a Thank You to Tony Pulis! I remember within this period you were in charge expecially two things - when we reached Wembley for that FA Cup final vs man City and also when we did surprisingly well in Europe! I didn't always agree with our style of play and the tactics, in particular in away games in the league, but we have managed to stay up in the Premier League and it has been such a long time since we were that successful in the 1st division. I remember when I was a little kid and we had players like Banks, Mike Pejic, Jimmy Greenhoff, John Mahoney, Geoff Hurst, John Ritchie etc. Today our heros are Asmir Begovic, Robert Huth, Ryan Shawcross, Glenn Whelan, Mark Wilson and Cameron Jerome. You were a part of that and thank you for that. Actually, there is only one detail you could have managed differently and it was some of the after match interviews, when we had lost and had a really bad game, with zero or just one shot on goal, all the strange explanations when you were saying we could have won the game instead of losing three nil. It didn't fool anyone. I wish You all the Best, Tony! Let's see what Mark Hughes can get out of the players! banana//:musik

Having Supported Stoke for over 40 years I can honestly say that I didnt think anything could surpass the pleasure that Lou Macari delivered. Thanks Pulis you took us to places I never ever thought we would reach. Gone are the Southends Torquays, Barnsleys.....Manure Liverpool Chelski etc etc

Pulis is a Stoke legend Coates was saying he was our best ever manager 12 months ago which I didn't agree with, Waddo will always be the top dog but our Tone will always deserve total respect.

You have really improved your English . Do you think you will stay up in league one this season? Do you think you can sign Fuller?

Musik You have really improved your English . Do you think you will stay up in league one this season? Do you think you can sign Fuller? Well Thank You! To remind you, we're actually in the Premier League... I don't think Fuller is on Hughes's radar! What do YOU think?

For me personally, Tony Pulis gave me my football club back. When I left England in the seventies as a kid and was asked who I supported, the response wasn't just laughter... it was pity too. What did I know of football that I'd have the gumption to answer 'I'm a Potter'. As the years went by that pity grew to sickening proportions as we went further and further down into the mire. As many of you might remember there were times when we'd answer... 'Yeah, we might push on this season but I hope we don't go up because we're not ready'. Shite like this actually came out of my mouth, because that's what stumbling from one poor season to another does to one's confidence.
Pulis changed all that. The last five seasons hasn't just been about Wembley or promotion or even Europe, not that, that wasn't glorious, but about actually thinking that Stoke City were a force to be reckoned with. That Man U., Chelsea or Liverpool would look at a trip to Staffordshire and grimace... whatever our form was.
For that I'll never forgot Pulis and even if the new man eclipses the last five years, and I hope he does, I'll still regard Tone as the man that gave me back my football club.

Top man, he was a gent, and the best thing to happen to Stoke City in over 30 years. Glad he managed to leave with his head held high, he deserves nothing but respect in my opinion. Gave me some of my best ever days as a Stokie, no I rephrase that, he gave me ALL of my best days as a Stokie. From Reading at home (Ade keeping us up) Cov away, Bristol / Leicester at home (Prem bound) 1st prem gave V villa, fuller's goal, Mama's late winner, the games V Arse-nil, sticking it up Wenger every season, too many great memories, trips to Wemberley 5-0, 5-0!!!!!!! FFS am I dreaming????? Cup final, Europa lge, Valencia, Valencia square, what a day. Villa @ home, when his Mam passed away, shows the mark of the man. Too many things to mention, all the charity work, he put Stoke City back on the map. So glad he has managed to leave with his held high. Thanks for the memories Tone, good luck x

For fucks sake don't try and take a pragmatic view (you are wasting your time) on SCFC's academy, YTS call it what you want for 25 years.
Certain posters continually harp on about the previous managers "intent" not to embrace a youth system. His priority was (1). Gain promotion and (2).sustain Premiership status.
Peter Coates has been a primary Director since 86, why are some concentrating on the Pulis era especially in the last couple of years.
For those who want to reply please state the players over the last 25 years (21 or younger) who have left SCFC and have gone on to earn a comparative professional football living or have actually bettered themselves.
