As the dust settles and you wonder what the human imagination's capable of... just realising how hard it is to imagine Tone getting an offer from another Prem club, despite all his CV-touting. Could well see him at one of the big recently relegated sides and that would be a good appointment for them - but would he honestly be taken seriously at any higher level??

I dont think so Sal. Whilst he done a sterling job for us in his time there, I never knew of anyone time another club approached Stoke about hiring Pulis.
The constant media onslaught regarding his style of play will frighten off any potential offers from the Premier League, however the Championship or even the big clubs in League One could take an interest in him and by rights they should as I feel Pulis is ideally suited to managing at that level now.
No club in the Premier League will want to be tarnished with the same brush we have for so long and you would think that Pulis would be a highly unpopular appointment in the fans views from any available top flight job.

His best chance is someone around December who looks like they're in deep shit.

A higher level? No.
However his CV does look good on paper, and as we know people have very short memories, so I wouldn't be surprised to see him get another Prem or top Championship job.

A man who can boast an average of 45 points p/s in the PL would be of interest to someone looking to consolidate. He's never going to build you a self sufficient squad though, depends what a club wants I suppose.

Mozzer I agree Martin O'Neill would do a great job for us. We should snap him up.

He won't get one because of this football snobbery, but he is better that 25% of the rest. Best to go to a championship club if possible. Don't know whether he is even looking for a job.

He could always go as assistant to James Beattie at Accrington Stanley

He's never going to build you a self sufficient squad though, depends what a club wants I suppose. I feel he was on the verge of that, within the next season or two. I can see Pulis getting appointed at a lower end Premiership side following a couple of sackings, or a Championship side pushing for promotion. He's one of the few managers who has avoided the merry-go-round these last few years. I can't see how Martin O'Neill would be any different to Pulis, and he certainly doesn't seem as loyal. In the short-term he wouldn't be as big a gamble as some of the other names being mentioned.

How about a swop with Martinez? Just kidding (about the swap). Look the guy is going to take the Summer off, like he needs to work-not!! I think he might be a shoe in for a project like Wolves but I think to be honest he might well be the guy to go to somewhere like Bournemouth if they have a shaky start to to next season- ambition, desire , promotion credentials etc etc. he is not going to go oversesas lets face it and I agree with those who doubt he will be top of any PL Chairmans list. The only alternative I can see, is one of the new sides in the PL has a really bad start, a nervous Chairman and he gets a call December time.

Sorry, I just don't agree with that. After £80m net spend our squad has never had so many holes. That is probably the sole reason Coates wielded the axe, long term he just hasn't proved himself to be viable.

The only realistic prospect I can see is Cardiff if Malky MacKay goes elsewhere. Otherwise he might just be in the frame next Feb or March when the relegation strugglers start chucking their managers out.
If he does pitch up at the Brit leading someone else out, what sort of reception would he get?

As for O'Neil to Stoke honestly I can't think of a dafter idea. 5 years ago he was ready for a big big club or England, he bottled it and settled for a comfort zone a tier below and now the edge he had seems to have gone. Hope for his sake it comes back but Jesus don't use Stoke to test that idea out. Besides, wrong generation. Not being ageist but for this club, right now, we're surely after someone 20 years younger, who'll want this to be the place they really prove themselves?

Theres no way in my opinion that another Prem club would touch him. His reputation for dull negative football will proceed him now. He'll end with a club in the lower reaches of the Championship or League 1. Lets hope he ends up at Wolves!

That is probably the sole reason Coates wielded the axe, long term he just hasn't proved himself to be viable. We have 3 cracking keepers and our defence is fine (we probably need to replace Upson and a good attacking fullback wouldn't go amiss), if you added half-decent form from Pennant last season I think our midfield is the best we've had under Pulis (Delap has been a loss). Our forwards are good enough, they just don't get the service. Going into next season if Pulis had signed a couple of the promising young wingers from the Championship (or A. N. Other) and a fullback I would've been happy.

Tones 33/1 for the Wolves job He'd suit Wolves quite well actually. It would make the Vale-Wolves match worth a watch next season just to see how he's getting on.
