Sorry, I just don't agree with that. After £80m net spend our squad has never had so many holes. That is probably the sole reason Coates wielded the axe, long term he just hasn't proved himself to be viable. We have 3 cracking keepers and our defence is fine (we probably need to replace Upson and a good attacking fullback wouldn't go amiss), if you added half-decent form from Pennant last season I think our midfield is the best we've had under Pulis (Delap has been a loss). Our forwards are good enough, they just don't get the service. Going into next season if Pulis had signed a couple of the promising young wingers from the Championship (or A. N. Other) and a fullback I would've been happy. You're right to a certain extent although I think you miss a few massive factors. After £80m net spend we should already have full backs & wingers. Had he addressed those issues we would have probably been a half decent outfit. For whatever reason he doesn't do full backs and went on some mad Walters/Shotton combo on the wings. He lost his head, he had the opportunity to build a team but he fucked it up unfortunately.

RB we have Wilko & Shotton - both are ok, just, but ideally they should be cover for a good 1st choice RB. Wilson at LB is ok, but there's no cover. MF - Nzonzi is quality, Adam also if utilised correctly. That's it. No cover. Out wide, we currently seem to have no-one good enough to be 1st choice, let alone cover! Up front, Crouch is at the end of his career, KJ could be quality if someone can sort his head out, SJW is SJW, Jerome is good - but is he good enough? But whatever your opinion of the squad, the point about Pulis is he has shown precious little inclination to build for the future in a manner to make the squad self-sufficient. Afer 5 years of spending bick bucks, todays squad is no better than that which finished our first season in the prem. I see nothing from Pulis that makes me think he's ever going to change his methods.

He lost his head, he had the opportunity to build a team but he fucked it up unfortunately. An on-form Etherington, no Pennant problems, and we would already have wingers. Kightly, Jerome, Adam (he's played on the wing for Blackpool too), Shea and Walters as backup to those two doesn't look too bad. Obviously none of us know what goes on behind the scenes, but I bet there are plenty of targets (including full-backs and more wingers) he hasn't been able to sign. Look how long it took to get Nzonzi. I'm not someone who defends everything Pulis did by the way, some of his decisions baffled and frustrated me at times, but he's the one who was there to make the decisions. I do think he could have taken us forward and made us regular contenders in the cups (we were the only team to make 3 FA Cup QFs in a row in 2011/12). The keepers I'll grant you. The defence is not fine. We have 2 good CHs, but no cover. RB we have Wilko & Shotton - both are ok, just, but ideally they should be cover for a good 1st choice RB. I see nothing from Pulis that makes me think he's ever going to change his methods. Of course there's cover in MF: Whelan, Cameron, Whitehead (he probably won't re-sign now Pulis has gone) - you could even throw Ness and Cuvelier in too. I don't know how anyone could say our squad isn't better now than it was at the end of the first season. I'm sure I remember a game with Pericard up front on his own and Cresswell on the wing. Sonko and Amdy Faye were regular starters. :S

Tone could never get another prem job is brought to you by the people that brought you 'Tone could never get us promoted', 'Tone could never keep us up', 'Tone will never take cups seriously' and many, many more...
edit - I nearly forgot the timely classic 'Tone never leaves a club gracefully'

I think he'd be ok at a newly prompted premier club, like his record says never relegated, how many teams coming up to the premier would like to stay up

I think championship club with ambition for promotion to the Premier league which when acheived requires 2 or 3 years consolidation, would there be anyone better than Pulis for that?

When you see league one clubs thinking fuck that dinosaur, it really does show how bad he really is.
Take away the millions and we would be in a mess.

TP has coached in the USA (during the two years in the wilderness before he joined Stoke for his first spell). He likes to holiday in Florida. I wouldn't be surprised to see him turn up at Orlando City in some role, especially as it is owned by Phil Rawlins. The US are impressed by coaching badges, his "EPL" experience will hold him in good stead too. Having lived in Florida for 6 months myself, I know that down there if you tell them something enough times they will believe it is true! ;-) So he'll be well away. A nice well paid job in the sun to see him until retirement.
