Sentinel."to guide them into an exciting new era"
"Roberto Di Matteo, Gus Poyet and Roberto Martinez will head their wish list"
"Pulis travelled from Bournemouth for yesterday's summit with Peter Coates and son John at Bet365 HQ. The Sentinel understands there was no discussion about the future, only a swift and amicable shake of hands after the hierarchy announced the end of his reign there and then. If it has to be a choice of those three then for me it would be Martinez.

It's surprising that a replacement hasn't been lined up before TPs resignation when it has been on the cards for weeks.

Only stoke could sack a manager and not know the replacement . Unbelievably niave and a very poor omen

Only stoke could sack a manager and not know the replacement . Unbelievably niave and a very poor omen We're days after finishing the season - it's not as though it's Christmas and we're in the bottom three with no replacement. We have a little time to sort it, although the sooner the better.

How do you know they haven't already got a replacement. Martinez would be a mistake in my mind, too contrasting.

Stop being so melodramatic. Our manager didn't have his contract renewed and we're looking for a replacement. Just another day in football paradise.

Rules out benitez as well neither young nor competent only Stoke could sack a man and appoint one on more money who just finished below him and got relegated but I just see no way Martinez will come .
Stand by for a long protracted carry on stoke city farce as we move down the candidate list

Sounds like there was a meeting and an amicable parting of ways between the two parties was agreed. Pulis will be paid up and no doubt get significant praise from the club about the job he has done.

It's surprising that a replacement hasn't been lined up before TPs resignation when it has been on the cards for weeks. The replacement will already be a done deal. Coates is too shrewd and has shown to much public support for Pulis to just get rid of him without a good replacement already sorted. Just because they haven't told the press yet doesn't mean it's not already sorted.

I was told 2 weeks ago it would be Gary Neville (hard to believe I know) but the source is supposed to be very relkuiable and, at least, they got the first bit right.
As for Martinez, no, no, nooo. Clueless about the defensive sie of football and has spent 8 seasons struggling to stay up, on that basis i would have kept TP.
From the 3 on offer above - Poyet for me...but whoever it is, I will give them 100% support and every opportunity to succeed, and NOT set my face against them from Day 1...let's hope plenty more can do the same or we will end up with another state of rimmers v haters!!

I'm not worried about Pulis at this stage, I'm worried about decisive direction at the club. As this has been going on for months, I hope we are already clear with what and who we want and we are just 'appearing' like nothing is certain yet.

In theory it makes sense to go for an up and coming young manager as that would fit the direction we appear to be moving in.
The problem is in practice, there isn't one I especially want to see here.
