oh come on, it's looks terrible - my onlyhope is that we are feigning doing things the 'right' and respectful way but that it us nailed down already - otherwise it's shambolic imo Oh come on. Stop being so melodramatic. Our manager didn't have his contract renewed and we're looking for a replacement. Just another day in football paradise. Melodramatic? Where? As I said, hopefully we are already very clear about who and what we want and are just going through the motions right now.

Martinez with Neville/Bould to help out with the defensive duties for me That would make a lot of sense to me.

Martinez with Neville/Bould to help out with the defensive duties for me Got to think Bould isn't going to leave for anything other than a manager's gig.

Maybe the rumors about Bould are true and they will go for Martinez with Bould has his no. 2? May help Martinez improve the defensive side of his teams (although I'd say Di Matteo would also need the same help given what Baggies fans say about him).

Bould would only come as manager and has had zero contact from the club's hierarchy regarding ANY role.

I was told 2 weeks ago it would be Gary Neville (hard to believe I know) but the source is supposed to be very relkuiable and, at least, they got the first bit right. As for Martinez, no, no, nooo. Clueless about the defensive sie of football and has spent 8 seasons struggling to stay up, on that basis i would have kept TP. From the 3 on offer above - Poyet for me...but whoever it is, I will give them 100% support and every opportunity to succeed, and NOT set my face against them from Day 1...let's hope plenty more can do the same or we will end up with another state of rimmers v haters!! He's gone exceptionally quiet on Twitter over the last few days... It could be he's on holiday, bored of tweeting or possibly something else (wishful thinking but you never know)

Well they aren't going to come out and say we want an over the hill, stuck in his ways journeyman, with 70's style coaching tactics.

Only stoke could sack a manager and not know the replacement . Unbelievably niave and a very poor omen I'm not sure I agree with that. I see clubs like Manchester City doing exactly what you suggest and it always leaks out. In my mind it is the worst possible way for the man in position to find out his fate. By the look of our situation it looks like the Coates family have done it properly and had the good grace to tell TP directly themselves. Man City get a hired hand to do what the manager already knows what is coming.

Why would Bould leave Arsenal to be number 2 here? Aren't there other rumors (got to love them!) that Bould and Wenger have a bit of a rift going and Bould has very little input. Maybe he would be promised a greater role and responsibilities, with the understanding that if Martinez/Di Matteo move on (which to be honest would be likely if they do a half decent job) then he would be promoted. You can't see it happening that way for him at Arsenal, they'll more than likely go for a bigger name when Wenger finally leaves.

What gives you SOOOOO much confidence that you take the piss out of any mild show of concern when it comes to Coates managerial appointment strategy? Maybe you have evidence of a track record?

oh come on, it's looks terrible - my onlyhope is that we are feigning doing things the 'right' and respectful way but that it us nailed down already - otherwise it's shambolic imo In what way does it look terrible? Sounds like there was a meeting and an amicable parting of ways between the two parties was agreed. Pulis will be paid up and no doubt get significant praise from the club about the job he has done. If that were the case and Coates planned to fire him yesterday, then why wasn't a carfully worded press release drawn up beforehand? Along the lines of thanking Tony for what he has done? Because I dont think it was like that at all. Pulis, I doubt would have gone quietly. It's a fuck up basically.

I too think that Peter Coates and the Board will have planned this out weeks ago and have lined up a replacement before having the interview with Tony yesterday. as Nigel Johnson said last night on P&G its all about business and in particular the shortfalls in season ticket sales - this sort of thing happens in big businesses all the time and it really wouldn't surprise me if a manager is announced today. I also know someone who speaks to the Coates family and a few weeks ago he turned to me at the match and said he had heard that Pulis was on his way out, and also said that the name he had heard was Benitez. At the time I just turned and laughed because I couldn't see Tony resigning because of his stubborn streak and because I oould not see Peter giving him the elbow, and also because I just could not imagine Benitez coming to lowly Stoke - .............. but now I'm not so sure. Before anyone says it - I am not claiming to be ITK !! Oh and by the way I'm not a new poster - I just had to re-register - I was one of the contributors to the "Brown Wings" thread on the old Rivals Board.

Only stoke could sack a manager and not know the replacement . Unbelievably niave and a very poor omen I'm not sure any clubs would have let us talk to their managers with the season still ongoing and I'd like to think prospective managers would have the dignity not to disrespect their employers like that...... Poyet not included

I shudder at the prospect of Martinez he's not even in my top 20 of managers I want right now.
If we do want a young manager I'd prefer us to go for one if the Nevilles or Bould.

With another mention of Phil Neville in the Independent this morning, you wonder whether they may go balls deep and take a punt on him with an experienced No.2?

So you would prefer zero managerial experience? Compared to Martinez, yes. If he really was such a good manager he would have identified Wigan's defensive fragility and gone and spent a few million on a decent center half, he is nowhere near as good a manager that TP was/is.
