Can we seriously get behind Hughes?
The bloke is an arsehole. A totally dislikeable cnut that players hate with a passion.
I'm really struggling to get to grips with this.

Hughes would be a shocking decision. You have to judge him on his last job and he did a woeful job at QPR. The worst manager in the premier league last season and not much better the year before. If we are going into a new era lets do it with someone who would create a bit of excitement. Hughes would fill me and many others with dread. We've got a big rebuilding job to do this summer and he failed with exact same criteria at QPR. He created a team that was relegated FFS and at a side who proportionately spent a fortune.

No better than TP - in fact a retrograde step. Proved to be totally useless at QPR despite having squillions....no idea......plus a nasty twot

I don't quite get the level of venom based on what is mostly a very good record.
Is it just because he's a wanker (which he undoubtedly is)?
His record at this level pisses on Pulis' from a great height on the whole.

He'd also be a far better fit if were going down the first team coach approach. Hughes would be a disaster.

I agree he's a cunt but he has a history of working with a squad of players like ours, can only assume thats why we've gone for him, anyone else would surely mean a massive turnover of players in the summer with potentially dire consequences

I think Hughes is by far the most probable option - heaven knows why it is deemed an improvement but there we go.

Seriously though, with Self sufficiency and a supposed priority in youth, would Hughes be the one? I don't think he ticks any of those boxes. Spent money at every club he's been at, brought through very little youth.

Spent money at every club he's been at, brought through very little youth. He didn't spend masses at Blackburn and found some real bargains. Didn't spend loads at Fulham either. He may very well not be the man for us or be the right for our new direction but his record doesn't warrant the gnashing of teeth we've seen. Hard to know who would fit the bill really. But give me Hughes over Di Matteo or Martinez any day of the week.

he's done nothing but disrespect the club. he's off on the wrong foot right away and he'd have a mountain to climb.
would be a very bad appointment for me

I thought he was poor at Man City too,not just QPR
I also doubt he would have anything other than Brian Little levels of commitment to SCFC

Apparently, little on fees but wages were huge and Allardyce bore the brunt of the cost saving afterwards. Fulham i'll give you that. I don't rate Di Matteo or Martinez either. One is a yes man the other is vastly overrated.

You might be right Rob and in some ways he may be a safer option but I think his colours arent flying high in the football world at the moment and I dont think he would achieve much TP couldnt have.
....and apart from anything he has been a TOTAL twat when we have played his teams.

He still managed to get the best from a lot of players at Blackburn who haven't done much in English football without him - Bentley, RSC, McCarthy,Pedersen etc. Personally I don't like the bloke and I'd be concerned about going from such a hands-on manager to such a hands-off one, but his record is hardly as toxic as people are making out.
