I can't believe the club are still paying for these overseas jaunts when we know that tone has virtually bugger all intention of signing anyone who has played in this match? Just buy him a copy of FM2012, he can set the filters for height, language and UK experience and away you go. He probably hasn't gone but been told stay away from the club. He's probably at Sandbanks. Nah, the club would be on very thin ice making up porkies like that one A surely?
What a tangled web we weave... And all that?
But, if he has gone, still seems odd. Maybe just chucking his two Penneth in after all, despite saying Cartwright will do all the scouting etc?

If I was the gaffer I think I'd make a point of being at the awards night to show my support to the players.
Sounds like a fob-off of a reason to me.

In this situation, if the club says he's in Spain on a scouting mission then he's in Spain on a scouting mission. End of.
No reason to doubt them at this point, we all know full well that there will be nothing coming out of the club officially about next season until after the Soton game.

Why send him to Spain only to not renew his contract. ...Or maybe he's going for the soon to be vacant Malaga position (joke). If he was leaving I'd be more inclined to think that he would attend the dinner and then leave shortly afterwards.

has to be said that this in conjunction with the removal of Collymore's tweet and the disappearance of tonyplanb's thread seems to point in the direction of strange goings on at the club.....i'm waiting for starkiller to tell us that the Royal Family have something to do with it!

They said earlier this season because of Cartwright, new signings would be done early in the summer. That was one major policy change so it's not too unrealistic that he was actually scouting. Would love for him to sign Carlos Vela.

I find it hard to believe that we are after a little squirt in a team that are the Spanish version of SCFC, my money would be on the other guy they have upfront along with any of their big lads in any position.

TP is trying to show he is up to the task next season. He's trying to convince Coates he can do the job. That's the only explanation really for scouting potential signing and missing this event. I personally think he will stay.

I personally think he will stay. Interesting take on it. Tony is basically saying "Look, I can change! I'm in Spain, I'm scouting, I'm a new man! We can still work." Turns out though that he's there coveting this fella Papa Diakhate (28).....'Originally a left-back and capable of playing as a wide midfielder, he is recognised mainly as a centre-back. He has also been known to play in goal for Senegal on numerous occasions.'

If he really is scouting a player, I think we can confidently rule Vela out. Just like we ruled N'Zonzi and Adam out last summer for being ball players? It's almost as if....we're evolving slowly ;D I'd see Vela coming in and playing off a target man if he did.

I personally think he will stay. you're honestly telling me you believe that?????? i was under the impression that Pulis only took an interest in transfers on the last day, approximately 15 minutes before the deadline where we'll snap up some "Up and coming" 34 year old black dude who's 6ft 3 and has no sell on value Pulis looking at transfers BEFORE the window even opens????? they may as well have said he wasn't available as he was busy discussing his brand new expansive and creative tactics and strategy for the Southampton game...just as believable

Maybe its just me. But I have been a manager for many years and the thought of not being at an end of the year awards dinner to show appreciation for the guys that work for me is inconceivable. I am not saying that its an indication that he is off, but its very strange and rather poor from the manager. I guess maybe he's close to signing the player he is scouting and it was unavoidable....but I am not holding my breath.

If Pulis is scouting a quality player, I think we can confidently say he will probably buy the guy next to him, like in the Pastore Arismendi fuck up

Probably the right decision for him not to be at the awards evening. He would only be facing tons of awkward questions from the public Nothing that he hasn't been facing as he's been going about his general business over the last month though, surely? He's skilled enough to dead bat a few questions, isn't he? I can't understnad why we're in this position. If he's going, say he's going. If he's staying, say he's staying. Surely we aren't waiting for some big end-of-season debrief? The issues are all out there and clear to all the parties. I agree, maybe he just doesn't want the aggro santos.
