He said he'd have to check his personal diary. Asking whether Brighton had reached their ceiling.

Is it just me that finds it a little bit unedifying to hear a manager practically taking his name off the door before they've even turned the floodlights off?

Gus Poyet has just failed to get Brighton promoted. Surely he would be more attractive to the bigger Premier League sides had he got them promoted?

Lack of class?
Given his ridiculous attempts to defend Suarez in the racism row, did you really expect anything less of Gus Poyet?

Sounded a bit pissed off that Brighton may have 'reached their ceiling' with ambition he said.
If we do want him strike sooner rather than later and show him how high the ceilings are at the brit

A little lacking in class. I wouldn't argue. Unnecessary. Or refreshingly honest if you want to be a contrarian! In a post-Pulis world, we're probably going to have to swim with the sharks.

He's clearly putting himself in the shop window in readiness for the managerial merry go round in the Premier League over the summer.
Cliches like 'hitting a ceiling' at Brighton would suggest he wants away, but I would highly doubt his next destination will be Stoke.

Bit like that David Brent scene where the bad news is there will be redundancies but the good news is he's been promoted.

In any company you want the best available staff, this will bring interest from larger companies, in order for this to happen the said staff have to bring profit and success to the company. Do you want another plodder to maintain bottom 10 possible relegation candidates or someone that that pushes the company/club on but leaves for bigger things. Being a Stoke fan this is the best we can hope for wether it be managers or players.

I had warmed to the idea of Poyet - I'm not sure that this little speech puts me off more than the fact that he was comprehensively outthought by that little bumpkin troll tonight.

I was a bit surprised with his response and I'd have been very disappointed as a Brighton fan. Honest or not, you don't want that display of in-your-face, eyes-on-the-prize ambition at that particular time. It's probably just South American cultural differences though! That kind of approach is perfectly acceptable back in Montevideo.

I don't think there is one manager that would make everyone happy on here.
Fergie would be too old Mourinho a stepping stone Poyet as above Lennon - drunk Howe - too young
Bottom line is, if you don't want a manager that may come here, do well, then get pinched, keep with Tone is your answer.
You can't have it all ways
