I've had a bet on Steve Davis of Crewe. Been looking without success for the past few days to get odds but failed to do so, called BET Victor & they have added Davis on at 33/1 for me, so I had a bit of it. ( The advert ) If we wanted too we could have had our eye on Crewe & Davis for a while now and with him buying into their academy structure and doing well for them I think it is very possible as he should suit our vision for the future.

The Coates family simply won't take the risk
He's untestedd.
It would be suicide.

Personally I would be very nervous also, and I would be wondering about the players reaction to him. Not for me mate.

Roberto Di Matteo would take Stoke into the bottom three within twelve months of being appointed, in my opinion.

Roberto Di Matteo would take Stoke into the bottom three within twelve months of being appointed, in my opinion. There's about a 90% correlation between wage bill and league position over the last few decades though, Geoff. If we retain a 12-14th place wage bill, it would take a superstar manager to get us in the top 6-8 or a complete dud to relegate us. Pulis isn't either of those - and I don't think RDM is. Especially when our transfer spend is comparatively large when compared to our peers. Status quo, position wise, will be fine if we do it in a slightly more entertaining way.

Only a fiver mate, £170 return though, it's just a hunch & if I don't bet on it & it happened I'd be gutted about the £170

Probably as likely as Doug Mountjoy or Silvino Francisco.
You can see him maybe getting a Championship gig though

You can see him maybe getting a Championship gig though Maybe, but It wouldn't surprise me to see D&J (assuming they are taking the driving seat) go for a young up & coming manager from the lower Leagues that they could mould to suit the direction that the club wants to go in with the academy etc.

Are you still in denial Momo? More than Barrymore was in his married years. I've had a small wager on Di Matteo, purely because my contact has been bang on the money about other things before.

This doesn't sound very nice to me. I think we are more likely to get a manager to really buy into the long term direction of the club if we pluck him from the lower divisions from the football league roof that is the Premiership & unlike a Rafa or even a Sven Eriksson it's more unlikely they will be poached by a bigger club should they start getting results simply because their C.V doesn't say Trophy after Trophy. Davies fieled 11 players from the academy last week, he is doing a good job, they play some decent football and he has just won them a trophy from Wembely. Got to be worth £5!
