In your opinion who do you think are the best/most effective players in world football (at what they do) at this point in time? Do it in order of 1 to 5 and players must be outfield...keepers dont count For me (after much consideration) : 1) Cristiano Ronaldo 2) Lionel Messi 3) Robin Van Persie 4) Gareth Bale 5) Fabio Coentrao

Interesting how 90% of our answers are forward players. I suppose its human nature to look to players who make things happen, excite and entertain. Or, on the other hand, there is a lack of quality defensively in world football. I reckon a bit of both.
When I was going through the worlds best centre halves I have to admit the likes of Chris Samba are up there!

How do you report a hacked account by the way? Somebody has hacked Rossi's account and is posting under his name... His real top 5 would surely read; Tuncay Tuncay Tuncay Tuncay Tuncay
And if pushed for a best goalkeeper... Tuncay's 10 minute spell in goal for Turkey would also merit him being named top keeper.

Ronaldo Messi Iniesta Falcao RVP Just missing out are Xavi, Ozil, Xabi Alonso and Zlatan (no idea where you got coentrao from rossi, hes been bang average since his move to madrid) I think hes incredibly effective. Hes the most intelligent defender in the game no question. Thought he was by far an away the best full back at the Euros too and always stands out on big occasions and in big tournaments. To be fair the only reason hes not been as good as he was in the summer at Madrid this season could simply be down to the fact he suffered an injury and also missed about 4 or 5 games following a match ban for abusing officials. Hes a cut above anything else defensively imo. Lets be honest..against City too he put in the champions league performance of the season thus far imo.

When I was going through the worlds best centre halves I have to admit the likes of Chris Samba are up there! I think over the last decade there was a time when defenders would feature quite prominently in these lists - Nesta, Cannavaro, Thuram, Lucio etc (Rio at his best around 2008 was excellent too IMO). Seem to be more goals scored these days which perhaps has seen their decline.

Its because the old die hard cb's are non existant anymore, John Terry, Rio, Maldini, Fernando Hierro, Desailly, Thuram, Sol Campbell and Carragher are/were the last of that generation and no truely great defender has repaced them Mascherano, Song, Kompany and even G-Cam all started life as CM/DM and have been moved back to defence It shows, considering no team has a great goals against record but i suppose it makes for more exciting football and more goals is always good, because as you said its human nature to watch the attacking players

They've only conceded 7 goals all season and have managed 14 clean sheets in 20 league games.
