Yeah let's shoot them both and ourselves whilst we are at it eh??? What a crock of shiiiitttttt this message 'board' is becoming. The minute some one uses the term 'the capped one' =MAJOR AGENDA. And if anyone dares to disagree let's label them a no brain rimmer. Debate and sensible viewpoint? Sod that off. Boring, boring boring, now......where's that bloody revolver? Person has different opinion than you shocker, last time I looked it was message board. If you are that sensitive , there is a "delete account" button you know.

OK. Let's say we got in two decent fullbacks and two decent wingers. If they're not going to be put to proper use, then what's the point? How would that improve us? I'm not saying we don't "need" them, only that it wouldn't matter in the long run. ??? ??? ??? If we somehow picked up Zabaleta, do you think he would be the same player for us? Would Tone turn him loose like Mancini does? I just can't see it, but I haven't been around long enough to get too pushy with my arguments.

That press conference made us look so small time and amateur. It's like they are taking the mickey out of us fans. If you had a flat tyre on your car, you wouldn't drive around with it flat for 18months! Serious questions need answering!

I am saying that this is NOT an objective discussion/message board, where folks can freely argue the merits of their own opinions and views with other like minded fans. Pity that. The pc version of 'get thee sen up the Fail'. In short you are proving my point, that this board is, I am afraid, becoming total shite and I would venture that many who contribute here just need to moan, simple. (Plus yes you are right, I do need to spend less time on here, as I have a busy life that I am neglecting). Football appears to be a secondary issue on the Oatcake these days, personal agendas ARE everything and you know it. God help us if we don't get 3 points against Reading, this board will go into meltdown big time!

Mick to show i'm being even handed im sure we would have signed Pieters had he not been a fool last friday but where was plan b? Even so i'm sure/hope we will return for him in the summer. What happened last Friday and what did Pieters do that was foolish? Actually, who is Pieters?

Say what you like about him being a yes man, which he probably is.
But, got to say, I listened to about 5 or 6 minutes of the audio of Kemp's conference this morning - and I kind of liked his honesty.
He seemed as pissed off and disbelieving at the failure to bring a couple of extra bodies in as anyone else.
He didn't offer up any excuses, and seemed a likeable bloke.

I've mentioned previously, that we are full of our own importance, and only represent a small section of fans, a lot of Stokies I know haven't even heard of the oatcake, never mind post on it! Take the board for what it is, a group of people posting their opinions for what they are, and long may that continue, However, don't think for one minute that we are the voice of the masses, because we aint!

There is a massive power struggle going on right now and you would guess the Kempo is firmly in the Tony Pulis corner.
Cartwright, Pulis, Scholes and I believe, a member of the family, are all at loggerheads over various things and maybe Kempo's interview, or even the fact that they put him out there, is some kind of evidence of this.
Our 2 signings of the window are both courtesy of an agent who is also a massive Stoke fan who works from the company in which Mr Cartwright made his name.
Anyhow, it remains to be seen how all this pans out...I am still none the wiser about events of last Friday and who the hell this Pieters fella is.
Anyone shed any light?

This fella, Dave.
Another possible arrival that could be scuppered due to injury is that of Pieters.
Stoke were due to watch PSV's Holland international defender on Friday - but because of cancelled flights, their scouting party did not make the game.
However, this was probably a good thing as Pieters was sent off against Zwolle, and on his way back to the changing room, smashed part of the dug-out which saw him suffer serious damage to his arm. The injury is now set to sideline him for several weeks.

Would that be a fair assessment? Is that the source of the tension?

Ramblers...I have no idea on the family member question but obviously, like you, presume it will be PC's son.
The source of the tension is most definitely the fact that TP is having to take on board views of others rather than making every single decision himself, often without even consulting his assistants.
It doesn't really fit with TP's dictatorial style does it and it is an obvious source of tension. Scholes has had his nose put out of joint as well, given Cartwrights legal background, as much of his own influence on transfers has subsequently been negated. Given the Owen fiasco, this is no bad thing in my book.
It does seem strange though given that almost everyone seems to be of the opinion that TP has the unequivocal backing of PC. If he does, then such wranglings seem unnecessary.
FM - cheers mate. Given the weather last Friday (I was travelling back from London), I totally missed that one.

Would that be a fair assessment? Is that the source of the tension? If the club put in a 'professional' scouting system, with well-reasoned player-recommendations for the manager and his sidekicks, I would think the club would expect some at least to be acted upon - and not rejected out of hand just because TP didn't originate them.

Tone is an old school boss, who demands total control over all of the footballing side of the club. Cartwright, it seems, is more than a scout who reports back to Pulis, but a technical director of maybe the Damian Comolli/Frank Arnesen type. Add to that maybe some Coates family consternation at the amounts wasted in the last two years on players who have simply not done the business, and you can see that some friction behind the scenes may occur. Pulis may be expected in the future to coach players another man has bought for him - which will go down as well as it did with "Triggy and Ziggy" all those years ago. Hopefully, there will develop a partnership where Cartwright's extensive contacts lead to players being suggested to Pulis to consider and they both work to seal the deal. If not, a power struggle is not too difficult to imagine, especially with Rudgey soon not around to smooth things over.

Rudgey is a snidey bastard who specialises in self preservation! His nose, more than most, has been put out of joint, resulting in his services being dispensed with. I like this Cartwright fella already, especially if having seen off Rudgey, we then see the back of Pulis as well!

It'd be interesting to know what Cartwright's remit was?
Why was his appointment felt necessary? Is Pulis totally on board or does he feel his nose has been put out of joint a bit?
Why have we not heard a peep out of him after such a supposedly key appointment? You can normally expect at least a fluff piece in the local paper.

From what I am told, he isn't on board with it and has most definitely had his nose popped out of joint. Can't do any harm. As said above, if Cartwright has seen off Rudgey and soon sees off Pulis, that can only be a good thing!

"We're short in some areas".. hmm defence maybe Kemp? and you go and let Upson swan off to Brighton?!.. I can see the logic Do Stoke decide to sell before they buy? - in which case any planned replacements for Upson and Delap did not materialise. If we had been successful in buying in 2 additional players first of all and then couldn't sell / loan Upson and Delap we may have had more than 25. Trying to do business well in advance of deadline day could avoid some of this but last minute bargains may be missed? At least we don't seem to have "wasted" any money imo, just mised out on at least one defender to balance the squad

Football appears to be a secondary issue on the Oatcake these days, personal agendas ARE everything and you know it. So don't pander to the agendas then! If you think can spot them, you can just avoid them by not posting, right? Create your own threads if you feel that strongly. I've mostly lurked here for the last few years, not a regular poster but I read everyday and I get involved when I have, and am able to have, a decent opinion. The board is a place for people to discuss Stoke City, online. You get all sorts, get over it or get involved with it. Don't bitch about it ;D
