Big and Daft. First of all find your Caps Lock. Secondly, we've lost one home league game in almost a year and, given that we're 10th, we are obviously winning more games at the highest level than we have done since the mid seventies. I'm sorry but for Stoke fans this is just about as good as it gets. If you want to support a team that wins more games consistently, then Man United, Man City, Chelsea and pretty Arsenal are perhaps more deserving of your hard earned cash and loyalty. First of all, the post was in capitals because I was fuming, not by accident. I still don't understand why you can't grasp the reason so many are pissed off. It has nowt to do with league position or home form, but the manner in which we take the game to the opposition. The tactics against Swansea, our offensive plan, in the main, was to hoof the ball from just inside our own half and hope it found a Stoke head. On numerous occasions this happened on Saturday and it's the plank on the sideline bellowing out the instructions to do it, it can't be denied, you can here him doing it. Why does he not put any value in us having possesion of the football? it's universally acknowlegded that we have better players in the squad now, but he still enforces the same method of getting the ball into the oppostion box. Which in most cases leads to us losing the ball and having to soak up another attack. The style of play has not improved one iota since we were promoted. We were promised a three year plan of stability, which we have achieved, but the man clearly has no intention of trying to change the style of "football". And it's not as good as it gets, is it? it's feckin dire to watch, fans are not even looking forward to going matches anymore, so how can that be described as progression? I have no intention of supporting another club, marra. The very suggestion leads me to believe you are on another planet. I do expect to see players selected in their true positions, unless forced upon by injuries. I do expect to see players who earn in one week what I earn all year, to have the confidence instilled in them, so they can complete more than five passes before they are instructed to hoof it forward. It's Sunday league stuff and highlights the managers shortcomings and ability to take the next step forward. I do expect us to at least look like we want to win a game away from home, and the manager to grow some balls, instead of conceding defeat to the mighty Swansea and Villa, (who are a shadow of the side they used to be), before a ball has even been kicked. Is that too much to ask for? He is paid well, to make the decisions and select tactics for each match, based on the threat of the opposition. So why does he set-up the side the same for every game? Post of the season for me that is....well said biganddaft

Post of the season for me that is....well said biganddaft Agree 100% I'll second that. I can remember TP saying when we were in the championship that he would play the type of football that suits the type of player we had at the club. So is he now trying to tell us the squad he has now is no better than the promotion season. If he is then he is either wrong or has not got a clue when it comes to tactics aprt from lump it up front and hope for the best.

got to laugh that this thread makes an appearance within an hour or so of us losing to Swansea.
i could see the point if it was a thread started months ago contributed to by the regulars who have wanted rid of TP for ages (and to be fair have given their reasons why consistently and logically) but to start it after the Swansea game just seems a bit of the old Oatcake "Knee-jerk reaction? i'll show you what a knee-jerk reaction is mate!" nonsense to me.
we were tenth before the game and are currenlty.....10th.
fair enough to some of the more reasoned responses on here (as i say, at least they're consistent) but as for the others..... some make it seem like we've just gone on a 10 game losing streak and are suddenly down to 18th!

Def full back plus winger minimum please in the next two weeks. Oh yeah and Kenwyne, bloody sit down, you aint going anywhere son ;-)

Hmmm been going about Kemp for ages and what a useless tosser he is. Seems like the penny is dropping for some people.

In the Reid season, we only scored 10 goals away from home.
I don't think it matters who the No.2 is while Pulis is calling all the shots - all the assistant does is milk the teas and put the cones out.
Pulis is about as completely hands-on and dominant as it gets, isn't he?

My guess he puts the cones out and says yes Tone every 2 minutes. I'm thinking Phil Neale/Graham Taylor England circa 1993.

I think it's bordering on being disrespectful to suggest that the guy is just a yes man when you don't have any real evidence. I know if I was him I'd be pretty pissed at you assumption! ;D

No, but please let us not experience an isolated Peter Crouch up front again! Only Jones or Jerome can give us something in such a position! I'll second that

No one is complaining about Pulis because we are 10th are they? If it has been said once it has been said 100 times, those of us that have had enough are those that are simply at our wits end with:- League position is not everything because we are never going to win it but football should be about excitement, hope, and enjoyment and Pulis most of the time gives us frustration, anger, and boredom. Its not about being 10th mate, if you have read the posts on here as you claim you would have got that. BM

Pulis seems to be an absolute micro manager, though.
Can't imagine there's much room for little flourishes and tweaks around the edges stemming from the assistant as it'd detract from the heart of Pulisball which is so unique and all-consuming, and he's so convinced about it.
He hasn't got a clue how to move away from it and its ultra-reliance on defensive shape and volume of bodies behind the ball - but any even slightly competing or challenging voices from outside his group of core lieutenants within the bubble of Team Pulis would just confuse things.
I often wonder what the hell Gerry Francis does on his couple of visits a week - if he still makes it up here.

I'm not sure how that makes me "brain washed". Indeed I insinuate later in my post that Pulis will not have to listen to his assistant regardless of who is his assistant. It's also interesting how you didn't answer the question I posed? Is that the usual response of someone with an agenda?

What about the old Southampton assistant? How about we bring in Nigel Adkins as well? If Pulis were to leave (not likely anytime soon) then I think Adkins is the sort of young, British manager that we'd need to look at.

Think Adkins is a brilliant manager. Very unfortunate to lose his job, and he has worked miracles with Southampton with successive promotions. I think there will be a club in the summer, maybe sooner, who will be getting a decent manager for free!
