Tbh everybody is getting wound up by some obscure twitter rumour with no substance behind it? Lets see eh I'm not, i don't really care one way or the other. He has had great impact off the bench but i don't see it continuing long term. I think he is just having one of those spells where everything he hits goes in. I'm never convinced he really knows what he is doing. He runs fast with his head down and just smashes it at goal hoping for the best. He isn't a natural finisher (or footballer for that matter) and spells like that rarely last. However, if we don't replacce him with more pace (and hopefully more skill) it would be very foolish to part company.

We bought him because we needed cover with imminent demise of Ric and a European adventure. I don't see us selling any squad player without ending up stronger. My only surprise would be if we were thinking of dramatic business window.

This season has just followed last season's pattern - comes off the bench, makes a difference.

Why would we miss a direct, quick player who has pace and can score goals? Because the oatcake gods state he hasn't got footballing brain (whatever the fuck that is).

As i said earlier, i don't see how anybody would jump for joy if he left (ala Hackett) but i still think his goal return far outweighs his actual talent. Alternatively he has suddenly become a clinical finisher despite not doing it for the rest of his career. I'd be delighted to be proved wrong and see him doing it for a lot longer but i can't see it lasting. It sounds like a much bigger sample when you say 'this season and last' but in reality he has not seen a lot of pitch time. That's obviously not his fault and he has deserved more but that's my opinion.

Don't disagree, just think it would be wrong to characterise it as a flukey purple patch when as an impact sub he's actually delivered the goods more often than not. As I said, I don't buy the 'he can't do it when he starts' stuff either, but that's another story.

Jerome was brought as an impact sub by pulis simple. I mean how many games as he played ( started ) in a row since he as been here. I would be surprised if it's more then three.

As I said, I don't buy the 'he can't do it when he starts' stuff either, but that's another story. I wouldn't describe it as 'flukey purple patch' as it sounds harsh on the lad. I play a lot of poker and would prefer to call it variance. Sometimes a shot at 'the goal' can go in the top corner and sometimes it goes straight down the keeper's throat. I just think he is getting the rub of the green at the moment and things are dropping for him. Whether he can keep that going remains to be seen but it's hard to believe his finishing can be so clinical when his ball control is so ordinary. Time will tell i suppose as he's still relatively young. It's hard to get across what i'm saying without it sounding like i'm criticising him because since he has been here he has done very little wrong but i certainly wouldn't want to get into contract discussions with him at the minute, as it wouldn't surprise me if he suddenly went months missing every cow's arse with a very big banjo.

Thats an interesting one Sid. We,ve tried before for him and we are now in a much better position to attract a player like that ? Pulis likes him Isn't he meant to be wanting big money though?

If we sell Jerome then we must have someone else lined up... No way can I see Tone leaving us with only 3 strikers in KJ, Crouch and SJW.
Assuming Owen won't be staying/playing.
It's not the area I'd like to see strengthened first, but if there's an upgrade lined up then I'm in favour.
I'd like more than 4m though. Seems low for a Prem striker IMO.

Every very pacey striker will always find it easier coming on against tired defenders rather than facing fresh ones and getting tired together. The truth is we won't know for sure until he starts lots of games and i don't think either of us can see that happening.

The stats would back you up on this Rob He has a ratio of scoring 1 in 4 when starting in the league And a 1 in 6 when used as sub. Both Jerome and KJ have similar goal ratios when starting but I'd argue that KJ as never been played out of position and he has benefited greatly from regular starts be it a season ago.

I'd be happy to get our money back on Jerome if true, he has been useful off the bench but if selling him means we can get someone in to improve the starting 11, be it a winger or a striker I'm all for it.

although i think it would be bad to lose one of our game changing younger players, it's quite weird that Jerome joined Birmingham and Stoke both for £4 million... and now we are selling him for 4. he has never cost a club any other amount as far as i can think

I agree Beardy but as Rob says this idea of him being no good as a starter is based on a measly 8 games which is absolutely ludicrous and those 8 have produced 2 goals what the stats don't show is that he as rarely started as a striker in those games.
