Is there any other Sitcom that comes close to this? Comedy genius. Apart from Monty Python of course .

So many great moments but the batman and robin scene was the funniest thing you ever saw in your life the first time

I am the proud owner of the entire collection in the leopard print box set (prized possession) and must have seen them all 600 times. It just never gets tiresome for me, John Sullivan, god bless, was a true genius and as for the actors, well, I think it's all just perfect.
Good call salop my man. (You plonker!)

Monty Python wasn't a sitcom though. Oops, my bad I added it in as I was expecting someone to argue that Monty Python was the highlight of British comedy

I used to think Monty Python was hilarious 40 years ago, but recently I have seen a few of them again ....and I wondered what I laughed at the first time ? It hasnt stood the test of time for me , or more likely I have lost my sense of humour

It was a shame that Sullivan carried on after the episode when the Trotters became millionaires. That should have been it, as there was nowhere left to go with the story or the characters after that point.
A great sitcom though. Second only to Fawlty Towers in my book.

Second only to Fawlty Towers in my book. they ruined the legacy, I forget they exist. It's better that way. Top 5 Fools Towers Porridge Dads army Open all hours. I know it's not everyone's cup of tea but office, extras and Gavin and Stacey is probably the only sit coms of the last 15 years I have found even remotely funny.

Faulty Towers was brilliant too. Only thing is, I always end up with a couple of knots in me stomach after watching it? It's like, even though it's an absolute pisser, it's kind of stressful to watch!

Steptoe and son was a good un, along with on the buses, love thy neighbour, and later on Auf Wiedershen Pet. Not enough decent comedy sitcoms on nowadays.

Over the years we've had a plethora of really good sitcoms. OF&H, Black Adder, The Royal Family, Vicar of Dibley, Fawlty Towers and Early Doors are my favourites which I can watch over and over again. Difficult to pick the best as they were all good IMO. Modern sitcoms tend to be a bit canned and, although quite funny, can't see them still being watched in say 20-30 years time. Agree with Bish about Monty Python. With the exception of the movies and the odd classic sketch, don't find it that funny now.

The first series of Auf Wiedersehen Pet is the best TV programme ever made in my opinion. Fools and Horses was brill but they dragged it out far too long as others have said.
