Charlie Adam is wank and Michael Kightly is even worse.
I thought it best to say this now rather than wait until a defeat at which point any criticism, be it constructive or otherwise, just gets passed off as Pulis bashing negative shit.
On the back of a cracking Stoke performance and a thoroughly enjoyable game of football, I had to conclude, that I have now seen enough of Adam as a first team regular. He's crap and just doesn't produce enough, consistently enough. He's exactly what I feared he would be...hollywood player who will look good once in a while.
Finally, the less said about Kightly the better. His substitute appearance was truly dire yesterday. Until he came on, I thought we could have gone on to win the game but our threat all but ended with his introduction. We looked more vulnerable defensively as well.
As bad as some on here say Ethers is, he remains infinitely better than Kightly.

I think Kightly and Etherington both have what the other lack,
Kightly has pace to beat men and positive direction, but his delivery is truly awful, and Ethers looks scared the moment he faces anyone, but retains a decent set piece ball.

How many times did Adam actually touch the ball yesterday? I'm struggling to remember him ever getting near it apart from a cross in the first half and a free-kick in the second.

Barring his performances at Man Utd and Wigan, Adam has been an absolute liability.

Kightly has scored 2 goals too, something Etherington hasnt achieved in over a year ;D Matty is useless these days. Bottom line is we need a replacement for him in January who the manager believes to be good enough. Adam is a class player, but its hard to watch him being played in this ridiculous role where his main priority must be to work aaaarrrd, and to run off the big guys flick ons. I cant recall one instance where Adam was actually passed the ball through the middle from either Whelan or Nzonzi. Personally I think Nzonzi is an ok player, but is massively overrated by some on here. The post last week about him being the "best stoke player ever" was embarassing. For Adam to succeed in this obscene role he needs to be given the ball from the midfield! Whelan and Nzonzi havent been good enough going forward.

Adam, Kightly and Cameron have not improved the team one jot and all look like liabilities. In fact, their performances are deteriorating alarmingly.
I can't see any of them playing for us next season.

I thought he was going to be a positive thinking midfielder like the one we've been craving for 10 years. I havent seen a lot to think hes anything other than a more majestic Whitehead. What looked our best summer of transfers for 10 years is quickly looking one of the worst. I mean ffs Walters and Wilko were our best players on Saturday. That says alot.

What makes it all the more annoying is I think our summer transfers are good players but every single one of them is being played in the wrong position bar Nzonzi !

sorry, Kightly won't ever contribute what Ethers has done for SCFC. I hope he does though, but he's a runner, a headless chicken, not a player.
He's scored two goals, well, one an own goal by the Reading keeper obviously.

Cameron is deteriorating and clearly isnt a full back as he stated himself. Kightly cant buy a game.

I actually thought Adam had a good game again , my biggest grievance is not where he is playing but what pulis damands of him !
We know tp demands all players defend from the front but Charlie Adam tackles like seven year old boy with ADHD , it just doesn't work !

Adam isn't a good player, how many more times do plebs need to be reminded of this fact? He was incredible for Blackpool. He scored about 30 goals in 70 odd league games for them playing in a deep lying central midfield role. Thats an extraordinary return. Even the likes of sir Alex valued him at £10 million for his set pieces alone and its no coincidence that he was nominated for a pfa. Something the rest of our squad could only dream of.

Fuck me! After reading the last two posts I'm off to self harm!! Some people are never happy. Cameron and Adam playing in positions totally alien to them, Kightly was dropped after a couple of fair to middling cameos from Ethers and has struggled since. (and so has Ethers!) Any player needs a run in a side to get some sort of form, they can't just produce it instantly after weeks on the sidelines. This season has been a big improvement on the whole, why do people always want more? We are 9th FFS!! ;D

If he scored 15 goals with Man Utd it would be less fa an achievement because he would be surrounded by incredible talent. He was playing with a bunch of championship players and almost single handedly carried them to premier league safety (along with carrying them to promotion).

Is he a better right back than Wilko or an in form Shotton; probably not. In recent weeks Shotton has been the only one willing to drive the side forward; albeit with some utterly shocking crosses. Wilko likewise had a fine game at the weekend. I dont think Cameron could have to many complaints if he was dropped altogether at White Hart Lane with Shotton back.

The stoke team looks like a confused compromise between 442 and 451, it looks like tp is trying to play 452. He wants to go for it but can't fully bring himself to do it.
I think if we were allowed to play 12 players our team and set up would work well

He didn't score his goals from a deep lying role, though. He played as the advanced midfielder with Vaughan and that other bloke behind him.
