He was apparently over the moon to see us come from behind against Newcastle, and would like to see Ryan try and keep a clean sheet if he had his way.

Glad to see Frank Bough on the list.
I remember his joy on Grandstand when we were top of the league in the 70's
Frank, former inhabitant of Trentham Rd and former pupil of St Greg's
(Shame his career ended somewhat abruptly under a cloud)

I'm honoured! His picture wasn't on the wall, the nuns would have loved him?

Frank Bough was from Stoke but moved to Shrewsbury when young, did support Stoke as a lad, but worked for the BBC in the North East, and transferred his loyalty to Sunderland. It has been on before, Julian Clarey is not a Stoke fan, it still crops up on the internet, but is not true.

Julian Clarey is not a Stoke fan, it still crops up on the internet, but is not true. I think it stemmed from a 'he's a bit Stoke-on-Trent' routine he did once.

Nathan Astle. New Zealand cricketer played with Cork at Lancashire (I think) and started watching us because of him.
Andy Robinson? Really?

Peter Vaughan, character actor (Gricey, the Mr Big in Porridge) is a Salopian and Stoke fan. I think he's still alive, but he's getting on a bit.

Nathan Astle and Stephen Fleming both had Gary Mellor as their agent when they played over here who is a local solicitor turned agent. He was as agent for James O'Connor, Clive Clarke Ade Akinbiyi and Kris Commins I think.

It has been on before, Julian Clarey is not a Stoke fan, it still crops up on the internet, but is not true. All I can say is that Frank made a big thing about SCFC being top of the league and his allegiance to the club. I don't remember him saying a thing when Sunderland won the cup.
