Would Rio have not worn it after admitting throwing racial slurs in the direction of Ashley Cole? Probably his guilt coming through! I don't blame them for not wearing them as long as its for the right reason with Roberts I genuinely believe it is and fair play to him. With Rio I'm never sure such is the size of his ego and look at me attitude. In relation to Terry and Suarez what else can they do but wear the t shirts otherwise all hell would break loose. Maybe the answer would be banners rather than every player wearing a t shirt.

I am confused? Is Rio accusing Ashley Cole of being too white racist against Ashley Cole or white people? And frankly how disgraceful is it to bracket ANYONE with Ashley Cole !!! Clarke Carlisle doesn't seem to have any problems with what Rio etc did so that's fine with me. I can understand this from both sides - what's the point of having an exercise like this when racists will be wearing the t shirt? But then if the racists didn't wear the t shirts then they'd be accused of being racists! Shows that slogans on t shirts don't ever solve any real world problems!

And there's the problem. If a white player didn't wear the shirt yesterday he'd have been accused of being racist, whereas when a black player doesn't wear it it's because not enough is being done to attack the problem of racism. Perhaps some players don't support the initiative as they'd rather the 'problem' exist so that they could use it to their benefit/defence.
But that doesn't fit in with what we're being told to think by the media.
Not that this should need to be said but in case anyone thinks I'm racist, I'm completely against racism and it baffles me as to why it's such a problem in this day and age. Perhaps it's because the methods of dealing with it are so outdated (the assumption/belief that only a white person can be racist, similar to that only a male can be sexist).

ferdinand and roberts did it to protest, but kenwyne was just too lazy to put his on If you knew the real reason you'd never have made that joke and you'd be sickened by what you said. . I should be sickened by what I wrote should I? its a joke and I know the real reason etc.. even tho it's an importaint matter you should be able to joke around about it. if it was palacios I would probably have said something about windy conditions. not very innovative I know, but come on. jizzes christ man. I'm actually mixed race as well. So.. there's your racist for you. (it's a david brent quote, so don't..)

I actually think all this racism crap is being blown completely out of proportion. People jump on the band wagon and make big deals of it because its in the media all the bloody time.fact is racism is not a big issue,I mean really is Anton ferdinands life in tatters from John Terry's comments? Is it boot, he's not really arsed.if however it was slavery then he may have a point. Man up world +1

When it comes to the subject of racism there are too many hypocrites about. People tend to thing that white people can not be the victims of racism which is a load of bollox. That's why I take the subject of racism with a pinch of salt.

I think you're going a bit far to suggest some black players want racism to stay as a problem so they can either use it to benefit them or to use it as an excuse I really don't think it's that silly and complicated I'm just trying to look for a reason as to why certain players choose not to support the kick it out campaign. Because as in Rio Ferdinand's case, he clearly can't be that hurt by the name calling because he made a race comment towards Ashley Cole and therefore cannot complain about the supposed lack of severity to the punishments of Terry and Suarez for example. He's not been refused anything in football as far as I can see. So what is it that bothers Ferdinand? I have witnessed, albeit only on a Sunday league game but a game that is still played within and under Football Association laws, black players making racist comments towards white players. Not just a quiet word in the ear either, I mean out loud. And what did the referee do? You know the answer, nothing. Until the FA and other relevant bodies deal with the issue of racism properly, it will exist and tensions will increase rather than decline. If the FA and such believe that it's such a problem (judging by the campaigns I guess they do) then they should be fair and strict. More severe punishments, both ways. Set the right example, not the living in fear of what someone might say example.

In the end Racism is wrong in all it's forms as is prejudice against religion, gender, homosexuality.
I guess it all comes down to the individual and how strongly they feel. Obviously Evra appears to be moving on Rio can't. Everyone has there own reasons. I just hope that whatever they are they're for the right reasons as is the case I believe with Roberts and not out of a personal vendetta like Rio.
The thing that frustrates me is I hate racism and from watching the likes of Missisipi Burning and in the Heat of the Night and reading about the Steven Lawrence enquiry yoU can get a feel for how bad things were and how we can never let ourselves ever get back to those days ever again and I think the world as a whole with exception of the Eastern block has moved on so much in the last few years in fighting it.
Things are nowhere near as bad as they were. People who are racist need dealing with quietly and effectively (IMO Terry and Suarez were dealt with a little too leniently) not turning into a big soap opera where people will think they have an excuse to riot and smash people's houses up again.
It happens it's wrong but theres a time when things have to move on. The longer Rio let's it go on the more bitterness will be felt. Is he saying he'd rather everyone stopped wearing the shirts and what is an excellent campaign should be dropped. What would he have said if Terry refused to wear the shirt wouldn't the situation have been made even worse.
I can't stand Terry or Suarez but they were in a no win situation.

A lot didn't wear it today. Robert, KJ, Lescott and more. The thing is, before Roberts and Rio came out to say they wouldnt wear it, who knew about it? I didn't for one. And I wouldn't have been arsed by their shirts. However because they haven't worn it, it's become a massive issue, therefore giving it more awareness. They should be thanking them for this stunt Yes and I am sure it will help the profits of Fredinand Brothers (Image Rights) Ltd this has nothing to with racism real or imagined and everything to do with media profile

If it was a white player that called a black player a choc ice he would have been lynched. If they want racism out then that is great but they have to treat all the same whatever the colour of their skin!

Perhaps thats a problem I have too in relation to being fearful of making a comment that maybe deemed racist even if it isn't. Spots on re everyone being treated equally. That's how it should be but a very difficult thing to enforce due to the fear of being branded.

Some good stuff on Talksport from Barnes and the legend that is Daley Thompson.
Both said Rio hasn't given an explanation as to why he won't wear the shirt yet. Also it isn't kick racism out of footballs fault do why punish them.
The sad thing is I don't think Rios even thought about why.

To be honest there is very little racism in English football thanks entirely to black players playing well and no thanks at all to campaigns to keep racism in football

At the very most, it'll be something for him and Fergie to have a private one to one. Apart from that, it has absolutely fook all to do with anybody else and he doesn't owe anybody an explanation. As far as I'm concerned, the whole kick it out week and you've got to wear t-shirts to show your support for the campaign is a bit PC. Have a club ambassador if anything

If it's a matter of 'best man for the job' then it makes no difference what colour the coach/manager/administrator is. Some one is bound to say something about 'proportional representation' but if black people make up say 10% of the country's population then why do black players make up 24% of the premier league, surely they are over represented in that particular area, so if they are under represented in another then it kind of 'evens it out' It should be 'best man for the job' every time and race shouldn't come into it. If the best man for a particular job and that particular time doesn't happen to be from an ethnic minority then that's just the way it is. Its nothing do with 'racism' I agree that racism still exists amongst fans , as I witnessed some of 'our lot' singing some anti pakistani songs in Manchester City center on Saturday :/

I think all this racism in football has been blown way out of proportion.
its all come about because of two isolated incidents in how many years???.
from what i can see, countries like serbia has a massive racism problem, english football does not.
also, we seem to be only highlighting racism against black players. what about when fans call players sheep shaggers because their welsh, or paddy wankers because their irish?? that racism as well.
we need to get a bit of reality, we are never going to get rid of racism 100%, there will always be the odd individuals that don't conform.
in england we have made massive steps in reducing racism against black players, and long may it continue. but racism goes deeper than just targetting black players.
suarez and terry are two incidents in english football, and you are always going to get these isolated incidents.
