Brian May did a brilliant solo at Queens Wembly gig in 86. Conner remember what it's called but it's on the DVD.

Another Gilmour fan here! Hes not fast, but puts more feeling into playing than any other guitar player I've seen. Obviously love comfortably numb, but this one makes me cry - (2.30 in)

Comfortably Numb? can't disagree with that at all.
But coming in a close second is the 'epic' solo on Neil Young's 'Like a Hurricane'.

Dave Gilmour - Dogs; or even Dave Gilmour on No More Lonely Nights by Paul McCartney. Then there's a lot of Andy Latimer stuff for Camel. And Kossoff - Time Away.

After all these years, Like A Hurricane still completely floors me, the most incredible, devinely beautiful, soulful, guitar solo ever. The best version out there imho ...

Queens first album was their best , I agree about the 'pop' thing , it started after Bohemian Rhapsody I think

Stuart Adamson (Skids and Big Country) was superb, for instance the solos on 'Dossier' and 'Happy To Be With You'.
Snowy White has done a lot of great work, as shown on 'Bird Of Paradise'
John McGeoch was a real wizzard and contributed with his skills in Magazine, Siouxsie and the Banshees and The Armoury Show. The solo on 'Floods Will Not Come' on TAS is brilliant.

Saw Frampton in Manchester, he does a fair version of 'While my Guitar Gently Weeps.
My current fav is Michael Fruscette's solo at the end of Dani California. Sounds superb on the old i-pod

Saw jeff beck at the " heavy steam machine " 72/73 he was pretty amazing I think you may have mentioned that before mate ? I remember thinking that it wasn't the venue that you would associate Jeff Beck with ,I on the other hand have to admit seeing the Glitter Band there in about 74 ( yes i do still cringe when i think about it )

Call me uncool but one of my favourite guitar solos is Tony Peluso's melodic solo on The Carpenters 'Goodbye to Love'.
