i'm a lover of a good guitar solo so decided to make a thread that can contain the very best, mind-blowingly spine tingling ones of all time. i'll start with this, at 4:30 in the video. pink floyd, comfortably numb. enjoy it! it's my favourite solo of all time!

Probably not that many heard this one but I love Richie Sambora's solo in Bon Jovi's Dry County! Epic in my eyes!

Dry County is a good one.
I love lots of solos, some incredibly technical and some that serve the song absolutely perfectly.
Steve Craddock on You Do Something To Me is one of my favourites. It comes unexpectedly early in the song and is wonderfully tasteful. It sounds like like the mic is about a foot off the cone, the vibrato is a little erratic and the pre-bend at the beginning sets my cock off. The rest of his lead work in that is good too.
This might be my absolute fave though - and apologies for the obscurity - from about 3:15:
I think it's the interplay between the lead and the drums around the 3:40 mark where it peaks for me, but all the guitar work for the last 2 mins or so is just right.
Not a solo as such, but the lead motif in this one borders on perfect for me:
A really fragile sort of tone with a lovely build up and resolution of tension. Not a technically great guitarist by any stretch but she plays it like an extension of her voice.

Tornado of Souls. Perfection from Marty Friedman.
Starts 3:05ish.
Fade to Black. Close to perfection from Kirk Hammet.
Starts 5:04ish.
Honorable mention to Stonewall, incredible pacey solo by Jeff Waters. (if a little too short)
2.15 mark.

Favourite guitar solo is Comfortably Numb. There has been many versions of it but that Live8 one there is best. Guitaring that is so emotionally driven it becomes lyrical.

From the books I have and recollection he was defending his mate Frankie Miller who got into a fight with a pop group called Gonzalez.

Are we talking frantic solo, many many notes or emotional solo? Many good solo's mentioned above with top guitarists to boot, but I will put these forward
Hotel California by the Eagles..always loved the solo dual at the end. Gary Moore - Business as Usual again another ending solo.

Axis bold as love by Jimi Hendrix, absolutely stunning. Solo from all right now by Paul Kossoff soars like nothing else. God bless both of 'em.
