Completely agree. Started very well and got stuck in. Was very unlucky with the way the ball broke from a couple of 50/50s. I thought he looked good. Big game to make you debut in too! One think i did notice was he that he seems to have decent vision for a pass. The execution was a tad poor poor he had his head and was looking. He seemed to be looking to play into space rather than to the front man to hold. Looking forward to more of the same - Palacios and Cameron to start on Tuesday i reckon! I suspect the entire starting 11 will be different on Tuesday. I would imagine you're correct - be a good shout to get them building an understanding if they are the future

He couldn't have had a tougher debut really. He only landed on Friday and had one day's training with his team mates . He has to adjust to a league which is a world apart from the MLS. The team he faced are one of the best sides in that League and one of the better sides in Europe with midfielders who can hold on to a ball in a way only very few teams (like Barcelona) can do - he will never have faced a midfield like that before. I expected him to be nervous and I think he was but he still put in a good performance which is likely to improve over the next few weeks and months. He's starting from a high level and I expect us to have a heluva midfielder on our hands long before the end of the season. Who partners him will be crucial. Huddlestone would be good - Fernandez would be even better!

Can I admit to being confused? First we have 1 thread praising Cameron and another slating him and then to cap it all I find march and yogi in agreement! Allowing for his lack of time with the team etc., I thought it was a very promising debut. He looked pretty comfortable and composed on the ball, he seems to be able to steal the ball in the modern "tackle" and he didn't get flustered when he did make a mistake. If we assume he will get better as he gets more match fit and gets used to his team mates then he certainly appears to be good value for money. We have been looking for a Salif upgrade for a while and I saw nothing today to suggest that Cameron will not be that player. That he played the full 90 minutes suggests that TP was both pretty comfortable with both his physical and mental condition and his contribution.

Very impressed.
Has a great knack of just getting a toe in when needed.
Physical and mobile.
Used the ball well.

It's crazy that there's a thread slating him. It's rare that the sponsors get the MOTM correct, but I thought they did today (with Huth in second). He put himself about and he managed to pass to a player in red and white on more than one occasion...what's more, I thought Whelan looked pretty good alongside him.

Very impressed with him for his first game. He's going to be the best player we sign this season.

You could almost see the light bulbs of understanding switching on above the heads of twenty odd thousand people when he lined up for his first long throw!

Considering it was his first game in a team he has had no time to play with i think he did bloody amazing.
Not exactly little boy lost........but without the ball he did look unsure as to what his team mates would do.....what they would come for etc......but that will come as he get used to playing for us.
With the ball he was quick thinking and picking out passes far better than our usual center.
A more than acceptable first game against tough opposition and he can only get better.......in which case he's going to be a class player for us.

There are some real spacktards on here sometimes who need to spend some time away from FIFA or Football Manager
G Cam was impressive today, I even thought Whelan played well.
Defence was solid as feck, midfield bar JP were good (Pennant off the pace of for me), forward line the obvious concern

Pennant was poor and Kightly was bright but played on the wrong side so always cut back.

Agree on Kightly, needs to be on the right. Amazed we didn't bring Rory on for a last 10min assault

The one major positive from Kightly is how he always wanted to take men on, from anywhere on the pitch.
Etherington lost that over the last 12 months and Pennant has always been inconsistent with it.
Kightly is very, very positive and commits people.
End product will be hit and miss though.

I thought he looked pretty decent. Certainly lots of promise. He could win the ball in the air, he was keen to get stuck in and he even got himself into the opposition box a few times. Come to think of it, he made a fair few attacking runs by our standards. I thought he looked very good around the halfway-line, but not quite so good when he had to drop a little deeper. Still, that'll come with time. I'm sure that the original poster will be giving the man who purchased him lots of credit, just like he gave him lots of credit for starting with two wingers earlier. Has TP mentioned him in his after match stuff anywhere? You could almost see the light bulbs of understanding switching on above the heads of twenty odd thousand people when he lined up for his first long throw! ;D Everyone around me said pretty much exactly the same. ;D

Cameron's biggest attribute is his ability in being two footed, which ultimately buys time in the middle of the park and providing we can get in a decent left-back then that could ultimately allow Wilson to play alongside him.
Didn't seem hurried today and that's the beauty of being able use either peg.

The thing is I agree with you, him and Whelan did well ;D just saying.

Just needs time to adjust to the speed of thought of the Prem but that attribute will stand him in good stead.

Thought he did well, first game in the Prem against a tough team some nice touches and got a foot in on more than one occasion. Promising start and will get better.

Possibly one of the best midfield performances in a Stoke shirt in recent years! Kighly also made an excellent debut against Reading. Would like to see Pennant regain his form alongside these two, and Jerome given an extended run accompanying Crouch upfront. If we could get someone like Huddleston we may be turning the corner to recreate the excitement of the Fuller/Lawrence days
